ਪਾਰਸ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਅਸਟ ਧਾਤੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੈ ।

paaras praupakaar kar jaat na asatt dhaat veechaarai |

ਬਾਵਨ ਚੰਦਨ ਬੋਹਿਂਦਾ ਅਫਲ ਸਫਲੁ ਨ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੈ ।

baavan chandan bohindaa afal safal na jugat ur dhaarai |

Does not take into consideration the kind, and caste of the eight metals (alloy).

ਸਭ ਤੇ ਇੰਦਰ ਵਰਸਦਾ ਥਾਉਂ ਕੁਥਾਉਂ ਨ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਧਾਰੈ ।

sabh te indar varasadaa thaaun kuthaaun na amrit dhaarai |

Sandal makes all trees fragrant and their fruitlessness and fruitfulness never occurs to its mind.

ਸੂਰਜ ਜੋਤਿ ਉਦੋਤ ਕਰਿ ਓਤਪੋਤਿ ਹੋ ਕਿਰਣ ਪਸਾਰੈ ।

sooraj jot udot kar otapot ho kiran pasaarai |

The sun rises and spreads its rays equally at all the places.

ਧਰਤੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਹਨ ਸੀਲ ਪਰ ਮਲ ਹਰੈ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਨ ਚਿਤਾਰੈ ।

dharatee andar sehan seel par mal harai avagun na chitaarai |

Tolerance is the virtue of earth which accepts the refuse of others and never beholds their demerits.

ਲਾਲ ਜਵਾਹਰ ਮਣਿ ਲੋਹਾ ਸੁਇਨਾ ਪਾਰਸ ਜਾਤਿ ਬਿਚਾਰੈ ।

laal javaahar man lohaa sueinaa paaras jaat bichaarai |

Similarly, jewels, rubies, pearls, iron, philosopher's stone, gold etc. preserve their innate nature.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰੈ ।੨।

saadhasangat kaa ant na paarai |2|

No limits are there of (the benevolence of) the holy congregation.
