ਭੀਖਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਭੀਖ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਇ ॥

bheekhak preet bheekh prabh paae |

The beggar loves to receive charity from the wealthy landlord.

ਭੂਖੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਅੰਨੁ ਖਾਇ ॥

bhookhe preet hovai an khaae |

The hungry person loves to eat food.

ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਘਾਇ ॥੧॥

gurasikh preet gur mil aaghaae |1|

The GurSikh loves to find satisfaction by meeting the Guru. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਸ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥

har darasan dehu har aas tumaaree |

O Lord, grant me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan; I place my hopes in You, Lord.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੋਚ ਪੂਰਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Shower me with Your Mercy, and fulfill my longing. ||1||Pause||

ਚਕਵੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਗੈ ॥

chakavee preet sooraj mukh laagai |

The song-bird loves the sun shining in her face.

ਮਿਲੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਭ ਦੁਖ ਤਿਆਗੈ ॥

milai piaare sabh dukh tiaagai |

Meeting her Beloved, all her pains are left behind.

ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਗੈ ॥੨॥

The GurSikh loves to gaze upon the Face of the Guru. ||2||

ਬਛਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਖੀਰੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਖਾਇ ॥

bachhare preet kheer mukh khaae |

The calf loves to suck its mother's milk;

ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਦੇਖੈ ਮਾਇ ॥

hiradai bigasai dekhai maae |

its heart blossoms forth upon seeing its mother.

ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਇ ॥੩॥

The GurSikh loves to gaze upon the Face of the Guru. ||3||

ਹੋਰੁ ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਕਾਚਾ ॥

hor sabh preet maaeaa mohu kaachaa |

All other loves and emotional attachment to Maya are false.

ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਕੂਰਾ ਕਚੁ ਪਾਚਾ ॥

binas jaae kooraa kach paachaa |

They shall pass away, like false and transitory decorations.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ॥੪॥੪॥੪੨॥

jan naanak preet tripat gur saachaa |4|4|42|

Servant Nanak is fulfilled, through the Love of the True Guru. ||4||4||42||
