ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Gauree Gwaarayree, Third Mehl:

ਸੁ ਥਾਉ ਸਚੁ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

su thaau sach man niramal hoe |

True is that place, where the mind becomes pure.

ਸਚਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ਕਰੇ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥

sach nivaas kare sach soe |

True is the one who abides in Truth.

ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਜਾਪੈ ॥

sachee baanee jug chaare jaapai |

The True Bani of the Word is known throughout the four ages.

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੈ ॥੧॥

sabh kichh saachaa aape aapai |1|

The True One Himself is everything. ||1||

ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥

karam hovai satasang milaae |

Through the karma of good actions, one joins the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਬੈਸਿ ਸੁ ਥਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

har gun gaavai bais su thaae |1| rahaau |

Sing the Glories of the Lord, sitting in that place. ||1||Pause||

ਜਲਉ ਇਹ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥

jlau ih jihavaa doojai bhaae |

Burn this tongue, which loves duality,

ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਨ ਚਾਖੈ ਫੀਕਾ ਆਲਾਇ ॥

har ras na chaakhai feekaa aalaae |

which does not taste the sublime essence of the Lord, and which utters insipid words.

ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਫੀਕਾ ਹੋਇ ॥

bin boojhe tan man feekaa hoe |

Without understanding, the body and mind become tasteless and insipid.

ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੀਆ ਚਲਿਆ ਰੋਇ ॥੨॥

bin naavai dukheea chaliaa roe |2|

Without the Name, the miserable ones depart crying out in pain. ||2||

ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥

rasanaa har ras chaakhiaa sehaj subhaae |

One whose tongue naturally and intuitively tastes the Lord's sublime essence,

ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

gur kirapaa te sach samaae |

By Guru's Grace, is absorbed in the True Lord.

ਸਾਚੇ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰ ॥

saache raatee gurasabad veechaar |

Imbued with Truth, one contemplates the Word of the Guru's Shabad,

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਧਾਰ ॥੩॥

amrit peevai niramal dhaar |3|

and drinks in the Ambrosial Nectar, from the immaculate stream within. ||3||

ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਜੋ ਭਾਡਾ ਹੋਇ ॥

naam samaavai jo bhaaddaa hoe |

The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is collected in the vessel of the mind.

ਊਂਧੈ ਭਾਂਡੈ ਟਿਕੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥

aoondhai bhaanddai ttikai na koe |

Nothing is collected if the vessel is upside-down.

ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥

gurasabadee man naam nivaas |

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Naam abides within the mind.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਭਾਂਡਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਬਦ ਪਿਆਸ ॥੪॥੩॥੨੩॥

naanak sach bhaanddaa jis sabad piaas |4|3|23|

O Nanak, True is that vessel of the mind, which thirsts for the Shabad. ||4||3||23||
