ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Basant, Third Mehl:

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਏ ॥

maaeaa mohu sabad jalaae |

Attachment to Maya is burnt away by the Word of the Shabad.

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਏ ॥

man tan hariaa satigur bhaae |

The mind and body are rejuvenated by the Love of the True Guru.

ਸਫਲਿਓੁ ਬਿਰਖੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥

safalio birakh har kai duaar |

The tree bears fruit at the Lord's Door,

ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੧॥

saachee baanee naam piaar |1|

in love with the True Bani of the Guru's Word, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||

ਏ ਮਨ ਹਰਿਆ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥

e man hariaa sehaj subhaae |

This mind is rejuvenated, with intuitive ease;

ਸਚ ਫਲੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

sach fal laagai satigur bhaae |1| rahaau |

loving the True Guru, it bears the fruit of truth. ||1||Pause||

ਆਪੇ ਨੇੜੈ ਆਪੇ ਦੂਰਿ ॥

aape nerrai aape door |

He Himself is near, and He Himself is far away.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਦ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥

gur kai sabad vekhai sad hajoor |

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, He is seen to be ever-present, close at hand.

ਛਾਵ ਘਣੀ ਫੂਲੀ ਬਨਰਾਇ ॥

chhaav ghanee foolee banaraae |

The plants have blossomed forth, giving a dense shade.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੨॥

guramukh bigasai sehaj subhaae |2|

The Gurmukh blossoms forth, with intuitive ease. ||2||

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤਿ ॥

anadin keeratan kareh din raat |

Night and day, he sings the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, day and night.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਗਵਾਈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਜੂਠਿ ਭਰਾਂਤਿ ॥

satigur gavaaee vichahu jootth bharaant |

The True Guru drives out sin and doubt from within.

ਪਰਪੰਚ ਵੇਖਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਵਿਸਮਾਦੁ ॥

parapanch vekh rahiaa visamaad |

Gazing upon the wonder of God's Creation, I am wonder-struck and amazed.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੁ ॥੩॥

guramukh paaeeai naam prasaad |3|

The Gurmukh obtains the Naam, the Name of the Lord, by His Grace. ||3||

ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭਿ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ॥

aape karataa sabh ras bhog |

The Creator Himself enjoys all delights.

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਪਰੁ ਹੋਗ ॥

jo kichh kare soee par hog |

Whatever He does, surely comes to pass.

ਵਡਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਇ ॥

vaddaa daataa til na tamaae |

He is the Great Giver; He has no greed at all.

ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੬॥

naanak mileeai sabad kamaae |4|6|

O Nanak, living the Word of the Shabad, the mortal meets with God. ||4||6||
