ਗੋਂਡ ॥

ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰੇ ਨਾਹਿ ॥

grihi sobhaa jaa kai re naeh |

When someone's household has no glory,

ਆਵਤ ਪਹੀਆ ਖੂਧੇ ਜਾਹਿ ॥

aavat paheea khoodhe jaeh |

the guests who come there depart still hungry.

ਵਾ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ॥

vaa kai antar nahee santokh |

Deep within, there is no contentment.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਦੋਖੁ ॥੧॥

bin sohaagan laagai dokh |1|

Without his bride, the wealth of Maya, he suffers in pain. ||1||

ਧਨੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਮਹਾ ਪਵੀਤ ॥

dhan sohaagan mahaa paveet |

So praise this bride, which can shake the consciousness

ਤਪੇ ਤਪੀਸਰ ਡੋਲੈ ਚੀਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

tape tapeesar ddolai cheet |1| rahaau |

Of even the most dedicated ascetics and sages. ||1||Pause||

ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਕਿਰਪਨ ਕੀ ਪੂਤੀ ॥

sohaagan kirapan kee pootee |

This bride is the daughter of a wretched miser.

ਸੇਵਕ ਤਜਿ ਜਗਤ ਸਿਉ ਸੂਤੀ ॥

sevak taj jagat siau sootee |

Abandoning the Lord's servant, she sleeps with the world.

ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਠਾਢੀ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥

saadhoo kai tthaadtee darabaar |

Standing at the door of the holy man,

ਸਰਨਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿ ॥੨॥

saran teree mo kau nisataar |2|

she says, "I have come to your sanctuary; now save me!" ||2||

ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ ॥

sohaagan hai at sundaree |

This bride is so beautiful.

ਪਗ ਨੇਵਰ ਛਨਕ ਛਨਹਰੀ ॥

pag nevar chhanak chhanaharee |

The bells on her ankles make soft music.

ਜਉ ਲਗੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਊ ਲਗੁ ਸੰਗੇ ॥

jau lag praan taoo lag sange |

As long as there is the breath of life in the man, she remains attached to him.

ਨਾਹਿ ਤ ਚਲੀ ਬੇਗਿ ਉਠਿ ਨੰਗੇ ॥੩॥

naeh ta chalee beg utth nange |3|

But when it is no more, she quickly gets up and departs, bare-footed. ||3||

ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਭਵਨ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਲੀਆ ॥

sohaagan bhavan trai leea |

This bride has conquered the three worlds.

ਦਸ ਅਠ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਤੀਰਥ ਰਸ ਕੀਆ ॥

das atth puraan teerath ras keea |

The eighteen Puraanas and the sacred shrines of pilgrimage love her as well.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹੇਸਰ ਬੇਧੇ ॥

brahamaa bisan mahesar bedhe |

She pierced the hearts of Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu.

ਬਡੇ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਰਾਜੇ ਹੈ ਛੇਧੇ ॥੪॥

badde bhoopat raaje hai chhedhe |4|

She destroyed the great emperors and kings of the world. ||4||

ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਰਿ ॥

sohaagan uravaar na paar |

This bride has no restraint or limits.

ਪਾਂਚ ਨਾਰਦ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਿਧਵਾਰਿ ॥

paanch naarad kai sang bidhavaar |

She is in collusion with the five thieving passions.

ਪਾਂਚ ਨਾਰਦ ਕੇ ਮਿਟਵੇ ਫੂਟੇ ॥

paanch naarad ke mittave footte |

When the clay pot of these five passions bursts,

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਛੂਟੇ ॥੫॥੫॥੮॥

kahu kabeer gur kirapaa chhootte |5|5|8|

then, says Kabeer, by Guru's Mercy, one is released. ||5||5||8||
