ਗਹਿਰੋ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਜਲ ਰਹੈ ਜਾ ਸਮ ਨਦੀ ਨ ਆਨ ॥

gahiro jaa ko jal rahai jaa sam nadee na aan |

Its water was very deep and there was no other rivulet like this.

ਡਰਤ ਤੈਰਿ ਕੋਊ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਲਾਗਤ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਸਮਾਨ ॥੪॥

ddarat tair koaoo na sakai laagat sindh samaan |4|

Dreaded, none dared to swim across, as it looked like a sea.(4)

ਸਾਹੁ ਏਕ ਗੁਜਰਾਤ ਕੋ ਘੋਰਾ ਬੇਚਨ ਕਾਜ ॥

saahu ek gujaraat ko ghoraa bechan kaaj |

There was one Shah of Gujarat who dealt in horses.

ਚਲਿ ਆਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਜਹਾ ਚਿਤ੍ਰਨਾਥ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ॥੫॥

chal aayo tih tthaa jahaa chitranaath mahaaraaj |5|

He travelled over and came to the place of Chiter Nath.(5)

ਰੂਪ ਅਨੂਪਮ ਸਾਹੁ ਕੋ ਜੌਨ ਲਖੈ ਨਰ ਨਾਰਿ ॥

roop anoopam saahu ko jauan lakhai nar naar |

Looking at the handsome Shah, the woman forgot her own glamour.

ਧਨ ਆਪਨ ਕੀ ਕ︀ਯਾ ਚਲੀ ਤਨ ਮਨ ਡਾਰਹਿ ਵਾਰ ॥੬॥

dhan aapan kee kayaa chalee tan man ddaareh vaar |6|

(She felt) as if, not only her wealth, but also she lost the urge of her youthful desires.(6)
