Gauree Poorbee, Fourth Mehl:

ਤੁਮ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਰਬ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਇਕ ਬਿਨਉ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਦੇ ਕਾਨੇ ॥

tum deaal sarab dukh bhanjan ik binau sunahu de kaane |

You are Merciful, the Destroyer of all pain. Please give me Your Ear and listen to my prayer.

ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਨੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੇ ॥੧॥

jis te tum har jaane suaamee so satigur mel meraa praane |1|

Please unite me with the True Guru, my breath of life; through Him, O my Lord and Master, You are known. ||1||

ਰਾਮ ਹਮ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੇ ॥

raam ham satigur paarabraham kar maane |

O Lord, I acknowledge the True Guru as the Supreme Lord God.

ਹਮ ਮੂੜ ਮੁਗਧ ਅਸੁਧ ਮਤਿ ਹੋਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਮ ਜਾਨੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ham moorr mugadh asudh mat hote gur satigur kai bachan har ham jaane |1| rahaau |

I am foolish and ignorant, and my intellect is impure. Through the Teachings of the Guru, the True Guru, O Lord, I come to know You. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਤਨੇ ਰਸ ਅਨ ਰਸ ਹਮ ਦੇਖੇ ਸਭ ਤਿਤਨੇ ਫੀਕ ਫੀਕਾਨੇ ॥

jitane ras an ras ham dekhe sabh titane feek feekaane |

All the pleasures and enjoyments which I have seen - I have found them all to be bland and insipid.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੀਠ ਰਸ ਗਾਨੇ ॥੨॥

har kaa naam amrit ras chaakhiaa mil satigur meetth ras gaane |2|

I have tasted the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, by meeting the True Guru. It is sweet, like the juice of the sugarcane. ||2||

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਤੇ ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂੜ ਦਿਵਾਨੇ ॥

jin kau gur satigur nahee bhettiaa te saakat moorr divaane |

Those who have not met the Guru, the True Guru, are foolish and insane - they are faithless cynics.

ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਰਮਹੀਨ ਧੁਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਦੇਖਿ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਪਚਾਨੇ ॥੩॥

tin ke karamaheen dhur paae dekh deepak mohi pachaane |3|

Those who were pre-ordained to have no good karma at all - gazing into the lamp of emotional attachment, they are burnt, like moths in a flame. ||3||

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵ ਲਗਾਨੇ ॥

jin kau tum deaa kar melahu te har har sev lagaane |

Those whom You, in Your Mercy, have met, Lord, are committed to Your Service.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਨੇ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੮॥੫੬॥

jan naanak har har har jap pragatte mat guramat naam samaane |4|4|18|56|

Servant Nanak chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har. He is famous, and through the Guru's Teachings, He merges in the Name. ||4||4||18||56||
