Kabit

ਲਾਬੀ ਲਾਬੀ ਸਾਲ ਜਹਾ ਊਚੇ ਬਟ ਤਾਲ ਤਹਾ ਐਸੀ ਠੌਰ ਤਪ ਕੋ ਪਧਾਰੈ ਐਸੋ ਕੌਨ ਹੈ ॥

laabee laabee saal jahaa aooche batt taal tahaa aisee tthauar tap ko padhaarai aiso kauan hai |

The laudability of this jungle makes (god) Indra’s garden Who is there, who could meditate quietly in such a jungle,

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਖਾਡਵ ਕੀ ਫੀਕੀ ਲਾਗੈ ਨੰਦਨ ਨਿਹਾਰਿ ਬਨ ਐਸੋ ਭਜੈ ਮੌਨ ਹੈ ॥

jaa kee prabhaa dekh prabhaa khaaddav kee feekee laagai nandan nihaar ban aiso bhajai mauan hai |

Which is abounded (with trees) like the stars in the sky?

ਤਾਰਨ ਕੀ ਕਹਾ ਨੈਕੁ ਨਭ ਨ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ਜਾਇ ਸੂਰਜ ਕੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਤਹਾ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਕੀ ਨ ਜੌਨ ਹੈ ॥

taaran kee kahaa naik nabh na nihaariyo jaae sooraj kee jot tahaa chandr kee na jauan hai |

Neither there could come the Sunrays, nor the Moonlight enters Neither there were the gods visible, nor were seen the demons.

ਦੇਵ ਨ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ਦੈਤ ਕੋਊ ਨ ਬਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ਜਹਾ ਪੰਛੀ ਕੀ ਨ ਗੰਮ੍ਰਯ ਤਹਾ ਚੀਟੀ ਕੋ ਨ ਗੌਨ ਹੈ ॥੭੯॥

dev na nihaariyo dait koaoo na bihaariyo jahaa panchhee kee na gamray tahaa cheettee ko na gauan hai |79|

Neither it was approachable to the birds, nor the insects could trod in.(79)
