Saarang, Ninth Mehl:

ਕਹਾ ਮਨ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਸਿਉ ਲਪਟਾਹੀ ॥

kahaa man bikhiaa siau lapattaahee |

O mortal, why are you engrossed in corruption?

ਯਾ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਕੋਊ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਇਕਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਇਕਿ ਜਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

yaa jag meh koaoo rehan na paavai ik aaveh ik jaahee |1| rahaau |

No one is allowed to remain in this world; one comes, and another departs. ||1||Pause||

ਕਾਂ ਕੋ ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਕਾਂ ਕੀ ਕਾ ਸਿਉ ਨੇਹੁ ਲਗਾਹੀ ॥

kaan ko tan dhan sanpat kaan kee kaa siau nehu lagaahee |

Who has a body? Who has wealth and property? With whom should we fall in love?

ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਨਾਸੈ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਦਰ ਕੀ ਛਾਹੀ ॥੧॥

jo deesai so sagal binaasai jiau baadar kee chhaahee |1|

Whatever is seen, shall all disappear, like the shade of a passing cloud. ||1||

ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਗਹੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹੋਹਿ ਛਿਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥

taj abhimaan saran santan gahu mukat hohi chhin maahee |

Abandon egotism, and grasp the Sanctuary of the Saints; you shall be liberated in an instant.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਭਜਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਭੀ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੨॥੨॥

jan naanak bhagavant bhajan bin sukh supanai bhee naahee |2|2|

O servant Nanak, without meditating and vibrating on the Lord God, there is no peace, even in dreams. ||2||2||
