ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੈ ਰੁਖ ਸਿਰ ਤਲਵਾਇਆ ।

dharatee utai rukh sir talavaaeaa |

The tree on the earth has their heads down towards the bottom.

ਆਪਿ ਸਹੰਦੇ ਦੁਖ ਜਗੁ ਵਰੁਸਾਇਆ ।

aap sahande dukh jag varusaaeaa |

They endure suffering themselves but pour happiness on the world.

ਫਲ ਦੇ ਲਾਹਨਿ ਭੁਖ ਵਟ ਵਗਾਇਆ ।

fal de laahan bhukh vatt vagaaeaa |

Even on being stoned, they offer fruits and quench our hunger.

ਛਾਵ ਘਣੀ ਬਹਿ ਸੁਖ ਮਨੁ ਪਰਚਾਇਆ ।

chhaav ghanee beh sukh man parachaaeaa |

Their shadow is so thick that the mind (and body) enjoys peace.

ਵਢਨਿ ਆਇ ਮਨੁਖ ਆਪੁ ਤਛਾਇਆ ।

vadtan aae manukh aap tachhaaeaa |

If someone cuts them, they offer to be sawed.

ਵਿਰਲੇ ਹੀ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਇਆ ।੮।

virale hee sanamukh bhaanaa bhaaeaa |8|

Rare are the persons like tree who accept the will of Lord.
