Gauree Maajh, Fourth Mehl:

ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਲਗਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

mai har naamai har birahu lagaaee jeeo |

The Lord has implanted a longing for the Lord's Name within me.

ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

meraa har prabh mit milai sukh paaee jeeo |

I have met the Lord God, my Best Friend, and I have found peace.

ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

har prabh dekh jeevaa meree maaee jeeo |

Beholding my Lord God, I live, O my mother.

ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

meraa naam sakhaa har bhaaee jeeo |1|

The Lord's Name is my Friend and Brother. ||1||

ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜੀਉ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥

gun gaavahu sant jeeo mere har prabh kere jeeo |

O Dear Saints, sing the Glorious Praises of my Lord God.

ਜਪਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਉ ਭਾਗ ਵਡੇਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥

jap guramukh naam jeeo bhaag vaddere jeeo |

As Gurmukh, chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, O very fortunate ones.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥

har har naam jeeo praan har mere jeeo |

The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is my soul and my breath of life.

ਫਿਰਿ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਭਵਜਲ ਫੇਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥

fir bahurr na bhavajal fere jeeo |2|

I shall never again have to cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||

ਕਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਵੇਖਾ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਚਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥

kiau har prabh vekhaa merai man tan chaau jeeo |

How shall I behold my Lord God? My mind and body yearn for Him.

ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜੀਉ ਮਨਿ ਲਗਾ ਭਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥

har melahu sant jeeo man lagaa bhaau jeeo |

Unite me with the Lord, Dear Saints; my mind is in love with Him.

ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਰਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥

gurasabadee paaeeai har preetam raau jeeo |

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I have found the Sovereign Lord, my Beloved.

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

vaddabhaagee jap naau jeeo |3|

O very fortunate ones, chant the Name of the Lord. ||3||

ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਵਡੜੀ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥

merai man tan vaddarree govind prabh aasaa jeeo |

Within my mind and body, there is such a great longing for God, the Lord of the Universe.

ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜੀਉ ਗੋਵਿਦ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥

har melahu sant jeeo govid prabh paasaa jeeo |

Unite me with the Lord, Dear Saints. God, the Lord of the Universe, is so close to me.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥

satigur mat naam sadaa paragaasaa jeeo |

Through the Teachings of the True Guru, the Naam is always revealed;

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਿਅੜੀ ਮਨਿ ਆਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੫॥੩੧॥੬੯॥

jan naanak pooriarree man aasaa jeeo |4|5|31|69|

the desires of servant Nanak's mind have been fulfilled. ||4||5||31||69||
