ਮਾਝਾ ਦੇਸ ਜਾਟ ਇਕ ਰਹੈ ॥
maajhaa des jaatt ik rahai |
ਕਾਜ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਾਨੀ ਕੋ ਨਿਰਬਹੈ ॥
kaaj krisaanee ko nirabahai |
In the country of Majha, a man of Jat clan used to hve. He earned his living by farming.
ਰੈਨਿ ਦਿਨਾ ਖੇਤਨ ਮੈ ਰਹਈ ॥
rain dinaa khetan mai rahee |
ਰਾਮ ਸੀਹ ਨਾਮਾ ਜਗ ਕਹਈ ॥੧॥
raam seeh naamaa jag kahee |1|
Day in and day out, he kept himself busy in his farm; he was known in the world by the name of Ram Singh.(1)
ਰਾਧਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਰਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਤਾ ਕੇ ॥
raadhaa naam naar grih taa ke |
ਕਛੂ ਨ ਲਾਜ ਰਹਤ ਤਨ ਵਾ ਕੇ ॥
kachhoo na laaj rehat tan vaa ke |
In his household, he had a woman called Radha; she lacked chastity in her manners.
ਨਿਤ ਉਠਿ ਬਾਗਵਾਨ ਪੈ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
nit utth baagavaan pai jaavai |
ਭੋਗ ਕਮਾਇ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਆਵੈ ॥੨॥
bhog kamaae bahur grih aavai |2|
She would daily go to a gardener and come back after making love with him.(2)
ਲੈ ਸਤੂਆ ਪਤਿ ਓਰ ਸਿਧਾਈ ॥
lai satooaa pat or sidhaaee |
ਚਲੀ ਚਲੀ ਮਾਲੀ ਪਹਿ ਆਈ ॥
chalee chalee maalee peh aaee |
When she was bringing the barley-meal for her husband, she came across the gardener.
ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਛੋਰਿ ਕੈ ਭੋਗ ਕਮਾਯੋ ॥
basatr chhor kai bhog kamaayo |
ਤਿਹ ਸਤੂਆ ਕੀ ਕਰੀ ਬਨਾਯੋ ॥੩॥
tih satooaa kee karee banaayo |3|
Taking her clothes off, she made love with him and, then, (on reaching home) she cooked barley-meal.(3)
