ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਸੁਨੈ ਲਾਇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥

jis man basai sunai laae preet |

One, within whose mind it abides, and who listens to it with love

ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚੀਤਿ ॥

tis jan aavai har prabh cheet |

that humble person consciously remembers the Lord God.

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ॥

janam maran taa kaa dookh nivaarai |

The pains of birth and death are removed.

ਦੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਉਧਾਰੈ ॥

dulabh deh tatakaal udhaarai |

The human body, so difficult to obtain, is instantly redeemed.

ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਭਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਬਾਨੀ ॥

niramal sobhaa amrit taa kee baanee |

Spotlessly pure is his reputation, and ambrosial is his speech.

ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥

ek naam man maeh samaanee |

The One Name permeates his mind.

ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਭੈ ਭਰਮ ॥

dookh rog binase bhai bharam |

Sorrow, sickness, fear and doubt depart.

ਸਾਧ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਰਮ ॥

saadh naam niramal taa ke karam |

He is called a Holy person; his actions are immaculate and pure.

ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਬਨੀ ॥

sabh te aooch taa kee sobhaa banee |

His glory becomes the highest of all.

ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਗੁਣਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਖਮਨੀ ॥੮॥੨੪॥

naanak ih gun naam sukhamanee |8|24|

O Nanak, by these Glorious Virtues, this is named Sukhmani, Peace of mind. ||8||24||
