ਕੰਕ ਨਾਮ ਦਿਜਬਰ ਇਕ ਸੁਨਾ ॥

kank naam dijabar ik sunaa |

ਪੜ੍ਰਹੇ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਹੁ ਗੁਨਾ ॥

parrrahe puraan saasatr bahu gunaa |

There lived one Brahmin named Kanak, who was well versed in Shastras and Puranas.

ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਤਿਹ ਰੂਪ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥

at sundar tih roop apaaraa |

ਸੂਰ ਲਯੋ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਉਜਿਆਰਾ ॥੧॥

soor layo jaa te ujiaaraa |1|

He was handsome too and, even, the Sun borrowed light from him.(1)

ਦਿਜ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਅਧਿਕ ਤਬ ਸੋਹੈ ॥

dij ko roop adhik tab sohai |

ਸੁਰ ਨਰ ਨਾਗ ਅਸੁਰ ਮਨ ਮੋਹੈ ॥

sur nar naag asur man mohai |

His attractiveness was so distinguished that the gods, humans, reptiles and demons relished him

ਲਾਬੇ ਕੇਸ ਛਕੇ ਘੁੰਘਰਾਰੇ ॥

ਨੈਨ ਜਾਨੁ ਦੋਊ ਬਨੇ ਕਟਾਰੇ ॥੨॥

He had long and wavy hair and his eyes were like those of katara, the killer bird.(2) .

ਬ︀ਯੋਮ ਕਲਾ ਰਾਨੀ ਰਸ ਭਰੀ ॥

bayom kalaa raanee ras bharee |

ਬਿਰਧ ਰਾਇ ਸੁਤ ਹਿਤ ਜਰੀ ॥

ਤਿਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਭੋਗ ਕੰਕ ਸੌ ਚਹਾ ॥

As she wished to have sex with Kanak, holding camphor she took him in her arms.(3) . .

ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਦਿਜਬਰ ਸੋ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰੇ ॥

triy dijabar so bachan uchaare |

ਭਜਹੁ ਆਜੁ ਤੁਮ ਹਮੈ ਪਿਯਾਰੇ ॥

bhajahu aaj tum hamai piyaare |

The lady said to the twice born (Brahmm), today you love me.

ਕੰਕ ਨ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਮਾਨੀ ਕਹੀ ॥

kank na taa kee maanee kahee |

ਰਾਨੀ ਬਾਹਿ ਜੋਰ ਤਨ ਗਹੀ ॥੪॥

raanee baeh jor tan gahee |4|

Kanak did not heed to her but she took him in her arms.(4)
