ਚਲਤ ਚਲਤ ਸਸੁਰਾਰਿ ਕੌ ਗਾਵ ਪਹੂੰਚ︀ਯੋ ਆਇ ॥

chalat chalat sasuraar kau gaav pahoonchayo aae |

Walking and walking they reached the village of the in-laws.

ਉਤਰਿ ਨ ਤਿਹ ਸੁਤ ਸਾਹੁ ਕੋ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਲਿਯੋ ਚਰਾਇ ॥੮॥

autar na tih sut saahu ko hai par liyo charaae |8|

But he did not dismount and did not let him (the Shah’s son) to mount.(8)

ਸਾਹੁ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਤਿਹ ਕਹਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਲਯੋ ਨ ਤੁਰੈ ਚਰਾਇ ॥

saahu putr tih keh rahiyo layo na turai charaae |

The Shah’s son insisted but he did not let him ride the horse.

ਸਾਹੁ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਲਖਿ ਤਿਹ ਧਨੀ ਸਕਲ ਮਿਲਤ ਭੇ ਆਇ ॥੯॥

saahu putr lakh tih dhanee sakal milat bhe aae |9|

(People) came and met assuming the barber’s son to be the Shah’s son.(9)
