Speech of Kharag Singh addressed to Shiva:

ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

SWAYYA

ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਆਨਨ ਕੋ ਅਵਿਲੋਕ ਕੈ ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥

rudr ke aanan ko avilok kai yau keh kai nrip baat sunaaee |

ਕਾ ਭਯੋ ਜੋ ਜੁਗੀਯਾ ਕਰਿ ਲੈ ਕਰ ਡਿੰਭ ਕੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਨਾਦ ਬਜਾਈ ॥

kaa bhayo jo jugeeyaa kar lai kar ddinbh ke kaaran naad bajaaee |

Seeing towards Rudra, the king said within his hearing, “O Yogi! what difference your deceit of raising the sound will make?

ਤੰਦੁਲ ਮਾਗਨ ਹੈ ਤੁਯ ਕਾਰਜ ਮੈ ਨ ਡਰੋ ਤੁਹਿ ਚਾਪ ਚਢਾਈ ॥

tandul maagan hai tuy kaaraj mai na ddaro tuhi chaap chadtaaee |

“You engage yourself in begging for the alms of rice, I do not fear your archery

ਜੂਝਬੋ ਕਾਮ ਹੈ ਛਤ੍ਰਿਨ ਕੋ ਕਛੁ ਜੋਗਿਨ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਮ ਲਰਾਈ ॥੧੫੨੨॥

joojhabo kaam hai chhatrin ko kachh jogin ko nahee kaam laraaee |1522|

Only the Kshatrieas are meant to fight, this is not task of Yogis.”1522.

ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਸਿਵ ਸੋਂ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਪਾਨ ਬਿਖੈ ਰਿਸਿ ਖੜਗ ਬਡੋ ਲੈ ॥

yau keh kai bateeyaa siv son nrip paan bikhai ris kharrag baddo lai |

Saying this, the king took out his large dagger and in anger hurled it on the body of Shiva

ਮਾਰਤ ਭੇ ਹਰ ਕੇ ਤਨ ਮੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਜੀਯ ਕੋਪ ਮਹਾ ਕੈ ॥

maarat bhe har ke tan mai kab sayaam kahai jeey kop mahaa kai |

After striking the blow of the dagger on the body of Shiva, the king roaring like the sea challenged him

ਘਾਉ ਕੈ ਸੁੰਭ ਕੈ ਗਾਤ ਬਿਖੈ ਇਮ ਬੋਲਿ ਉਠਿਓ ਹਸਿ ਸਿੰਧ ਜਰਾ ਜੈ ॥

ghaau kai sunbh kai gaat bikhai im bol utthio has sindh jaraa jai |

Shiva fell down with the blow of the dagger

ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਗਿਰਿਓ ਸਿਰ ਮਾਲ ਕਹੂੰ ਕਹੂੰ ਬੈਲ ਗਿਰਿਓ ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਸੂਲ ਕਹੂੰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ॥੧੫੨੩॥

rudr girio sir maal kahoon kahoon bail girio giriyo sool kahoon hvai |1523|

His necklace of skulls slipped and fell down, somewhere his bull fell down and somewhere his trident fell down.1523.

ਘੇਰ ਲੀਯੋ ਮਿਲ ਕੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕਉ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਸਿਵ ਕੇ ਦਲ ਕੋਪ ਕਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥

gher leeyo mil kai nrip kau jab hee siv ke dal kop kario hai |

ਆਗੇ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਭੂਪ ਅਯੋਧਨ ਮੈ ਦਿਢ ਠਾਢੋ ਰਹਿਓ ਨਹੀ ਪੈਗ ਟਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥

aage hvai bhoop ayodhan mai didt tthaadto rahio nahee paig ttario hai |

Now the army of Shiva, in fury, surrounded the king, but the king also remained stable in the battlefield and did not retrace even one step

ਤਾਲ ਜਹਾ ਰਥ ਰੂਖ ਧੁਜਾ ਭਟ ਪੰਛਨ ਸਿਉ ਰਨ ਬਾਗ ਭਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥

taal jahaa rath rookh dhujaa bhatt panchhan siau ran baag bhario hai |

In that garden of the battlefield, the chariots look small tanks, the banners like trees and the warriors like birds

ਭਾਗ ਗਏ ਗਨ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਿਹੰਗ ਮਨੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਟੂਟ ਕੈ ਬਾਜ ਪਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥੧੫੨੪॥

bhaag ge gan jaise bihang mano nrip ttoott kai baaj pario hai |1524|

The ganas of Shiva as birds appears to fly away when the king as falcon pounces upon them.1524.
