ਜਿਉ ਬੇਸੀਵੈ ਥੇਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਪਛੋਤਾਵੈ ਸੁਖਿ ਨਾ ਵਸੈ ।

jiau beseevai thehu kar pachhotaavai sukh naa vasai |

Inhabiting in other's lands brings repentence and takes away happiness;

ਚੜਿ ਚੜਿ ਲੜਦੇ ਭੂਮੀਏ ਧਾੜਾ ਪੇੜਾ ਖਸਣ ਖਸੈ ।

charr charr larrade bhoomee dhaarraa perraa khasan khasai |

Daily the land lords quarrel, toot and extort.

ਦੁਹ ਨਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਦੂਲਹਾ ਦੁਹੁ ਮੁਣਸਾ ਦੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਵਿਣਸੈ ।

duh naaree daa doolahaa duhu munasaa dee naar vinasai |

Husband of two women and the wife of two husbands are bound to perish;

ਹੁਇ ਉਜਾੜਾ ਖੇਤੀਐ ਦੁਹਿ ਹਾਕਮ ਦੁਇ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਖੁਣਸੈ ।

hue ujaarraa kheteeai duhi haakam due hukam khunasai |

Tillage under the orders of two mutually antagonist masters would go waste.

ਦੁਖ ਦੁਇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਰਾਤਿ ਦਿਹੁ ਘਰੁ ਛਿਜੈ ਵੈਰਾਇਣੁ ਹਸੈ ।

dukh due chintaa raat dihu ghar chhijai vairaaein hasai |

Where suffering and anxiety dwell day and night i.e. all the time, that house gets destroyed and the neighbourhood women laugh derisively.

ਦੁਹੁ ਖੁੰਢਾਂ ਵਿਚਿ ਰਖਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਵਸਦੀ ਵਸੈ ਨ ਨਸਦੀ ਨਸੈ ।

duhu khundtaan vich rakh sir vasadee vasai na nasadee nasai |

If one gets one's head stuck in two cavities, one can neither stay nor run away.

ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਭੁਇਅੰਗਮੁ ਡਸੈ ।੭।

doojaa bhaau bhueiangam ddasai |7|

Likewise, the sense of duality is a virtual snake-bite.
