ਸਗਲ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕੋ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੁਖੀਆ ॥

sagal srisatt ko raajaa dukheea |

The rulers of the all the world are unhappy;

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਹੋਇ ਸੁਖੀਆ ॥

har kaa naam japat hoe sukheea |

one who chants the Name of the Lord becomes happy.

ਲਾਖ ਕਰੋਰੀ ਬੰਧੁ ਨ ਪਰੈ ॥

laakh karoree bandh na parai |

Acquiring hundreds of thousands and millions, your desires shall not be contained.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਨਿਸਤਰੈ ॥

har kaa naam japat nisatarai |

Chanting the Name of the Lord, you shall find release.

ਅਨਿਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗ ਤਿਖ ਨ ਬੁਝਾਵੈ ॥

anik maaeaa rang tikh na bujhaavai |

By the countless pleasures of Maya, your thirst shall not be quenched.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਆਘਾਵੈ ॥

har kaa naam japat aaghaavai |

Chanting the Name of the Lord, you shall be satisfied.

ਜਿਹ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਇਹੁ ਜਾਤ ਇਕੇਲਾ ॥

jih maarag ihu jaat ikelaa |

Upon that path where you must go all alone,

ਤਹ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਤ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥

teh har naam sang hot suhelaa |

there, only the Lord's Name shall go with you to sustain you.

ਐਸਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥

aisaa naam man sadaa dhiaaeeai |

On such a Name, O my mind, meditate forever.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੨॥

naanak guramukh param gat paaeeai |2|

O Nanak, as Gurmukh, you shall obtain the state of supreme dignity. ||2||
