ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ik oankaar satigur prasaad |

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਸਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥

sachaa aap savaaranahaaraa |

The Lord Lord Himself is the One who exalts and embellishes.

ਅਵਰ ਨ ਸੂਝਸਿ ਬੀਜੀ ਕਾਰਾ ॥

avar na soojhas beejee kaaraa |

Do not consider any other work.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਵਸੈ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧॥

guramukh sach vasai ghatt antar sahaje sach samaaee he |1|

The True Lord abides deep within the heart of the Gurmukh, who intuitively merges in the True Lord. ||1||

ਸਭਨਾ ਸਚੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥

sabhanaa sach vasai man maahee |

The True Lord dwells within the minds of all.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥

gur parasaadee sehaj samaahee |

By Guru's Grace, they are intuitively absorbed in Him.

ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੨॥

gur gur karat sadaa sukh paaeaa gur charanee chit laaee he |2|

Calling out, "Guru, Guru", I have found eternal peace; my consciousness is focused on the Guru's feet. ||2||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹੈ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹੈ ਪੂਜਾ ॥

satigur hai giaan satigur hai poojaa |

The True Guru is spiritual wisdom; the True Guru is worship and adoration.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ॥

satigur sevee avar na doojaa |

I serve the True Guru, and no other.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਭਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੩॥

satigur te naam ratan dhan paaeaa satigur kee sevaa bhaaee he |3|

From the True Guru, I have obtained the wealth, the jewel of the Naam. Service to the True Guru is pleasing to me. ||3||

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੋ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਗੇ ॥

bin satigur jo doojai laage |

Without the True Guru, those who are attached to duality

ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਅਭਾਗੇ ॥

aaveh jaeh bhram mareh abhaage |

come and go, and wander in reincarnation; these unfortunate ones die.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੪॥

naanak tin kee fir gat hovai ji guramukh raheh saranaaee he |4|

O Nanak, even after they are emancipated, those who become Gurmukh remain in the Guru's Sanctuary. ||4||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਾਚੀ ॥

guramukh preet sadaa hai saachee |

The love of the Gurmukh is forever true.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਗਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਜਾਚੀ ॥

satigur te maagau naam ajaachee |

I beg for the invaluable Naam, the Name of the Lord, from the Guru.

ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੫॥

hohu deaal kripaa kar har jeeo rakh levahu gur saranaaee he |5|

O Dear Lord, please be kind, and grant Your Grace; please keep me in the Guru's Sanctuary. ||5||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਚੁਆਇਆ ॥

amrit ras satiguroo chuaaeaa |

The True Guru trickles the Ambrosial Nectar into my mouth.

ਦਸਵੈ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ਆਇਆ ॥

dasavai duaar pragatt hoe aaeaa |

My Tenth Gate has been opened and revealed.

ਤਹ ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦ ਵਜਹਿ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੬॥

teh anahad sabad vajeh dhun baanee sahaje sehaj samaaee he |6|

The unstruck sound current of the Shabad vibrates and resounds there, with the melody of the Guru's Bani; one is easily, intuitively absorbed in the Lord. ||6||

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਕਰਤੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਈ ॥

jin kau karatai dhur likh paaee |

Those who are so pre-ordained by the Creator,

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤ ਵਿਹਾਈ ॥

anadin gur gur karat vihaaee |

pass their nights and days calling on the Guru.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੋ ਸੀਝੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੭॥

bin satigur ko seejhai naahee gur charanee chit laaee he |7|

Without the True Guru, no one understands; focus your consciousness on the Guru's Feet. ||7||

ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ॥

jis bhaavai tis aape dee |

The Lord Himself blesses those with whom He is pleased.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਲੇਇ ॥

guramukh naam padaarath lee |

The Gurmukh receives the wealth of the Naam.

ਆਪੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੮॥

aape kripaa kare naam devai naanak naam samaaee he |8|

When the Lord grants His Grace, He bestows the Naam; Nanak is immersed and absorbed in the Naam. ||8||

ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਭਇਆ ॥

giaan ratan man paragatt bheaa |

The jewel of spiritual wisdom is revealed within the mind.

ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਸਹਜੇ ਲਇਆ ॥

naam padaarath sahaje leaa |

The wealth of the Naam is easily, intuitively received.

ਏਹ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੯॥

eeh vaddiaaee gur te paaee satigur kau sad bal jaaee he |9|

This glorious greatness is obtained from the Guru; I am forever a sacrifice to the True Guru. ||9||

ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਆ ਸੂਰੁ ਨਿਸਿ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅੰਧਿਆਰਾ ॥

pragattiaa soor nis mittiaa andhiaaraa |

With the rising of the sun, the darkness of the night is dispelled.

ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਰਤਨਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥

agiaan mittiaa gur ratan apaaraa |

Spiritual ignorance is eradicated, by the priceless jewel of the Guru.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਰੀ ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥

satigur giaan ratan at bhaaree karam milai sukh paaee he |10|

The True Guru is the fantastically valuable jewel of spiritual wisdom; blessed by God's Mercy, peace is found. ||10||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥

guramukh naam pragattee hai soe |

The Gurmukh obtains the Naam, and his good reputation increases.

ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹਛਾ ਲੋਇ ॥

chahu jug niramal hachhaa loe |

In all four ages he is considered to be pure and good.

ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥

naame naam rate sukh paaeaa naam rahiaa liv laaee he |11|

Imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he finds peace. He remains lovingly focused on the Naam. ||11||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ॥

guramukh naam paraapat hovai |

The Gurmukh receives the Naam.

ਸਹਜੇ ਜਾਗੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੋਵੈ ॥

sahaje jaagai sahaje sovai |

In intuitive peace he wakes, and in intuitive peace he sleeps.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥

guramukh naam samaae samaavai naanak naam dhiaaee he |12|

The Gurmukh is immersed and absorbed in the Naam; Nanak meditates on the Naam. ||12||

ਭਗਤਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਹੈ ਬਾਣੀ ॥

bhagataa mukh amrit hai baanee |

The Ambrosial Nectar of the Guru's Bani is in the mouth of the devotees.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥

guramukh har naam aakh vakhaanee |

The Gurmukhs chant and repeat the Lord's Name.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਸਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥

har har karat sadaa man bigasai har charanee man laaee he |13|

Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, their minds forever blossom forth; they focus their minds on the Lord's Feet. ||13||

ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥

ham moorakh agiaan giaan kichh naahee |

I am foolish and ignorant; I have no wisdom at all.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਪੜੀ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥

satigur te samajh parree man maahee |

From the True Guru, I have obtained understanding in my mind.

ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥

hohu deaal kripaa kar har jeeo satigur kee sevaa laaee he |14|

O Dear Lord, please be kind to me, and grant Your Grace; let me be committed to serving the True Guru. ||14||

ਜਿਨਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਏਕੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥

jin satigur jaataa tin ek pachhaataa |

Those who know the True Guru realize the One Lord.

ਸਰਬੇ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥

sarabe rav rahiaa sukhadaataa |

The Giver of peace is all-pervading, permeating everywhere.

ਆਤਮੁ ਚੀਨਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥

aatam cheen param pad paaeaa sevaa surat samaaee he |15|

Understanding my own soul, I have obtained the Supreme Status; my awareness is immersed in selfless service. ||15||

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਆਦਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥

jin kau aad milee vaddiaaee |

Those who are blessed with glorious greatness by the Primal Lord God

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥

satigur man vasiaa liv laaee |

are lovingly focused on the True Guru, who dwells within their minds.

ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੧॥

aap miliaa jagajeevan daataa naanak ank samaaee he |16|1|

The Giver of life to the world Himself meets them; O Nanak, they are absorbed in His Being. ||16||1||
