ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl:

ਦਰਬਵੰਤੁ ਦਰਬੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਗਰਬੈ ਭੂਮਵੰਤੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ॥

darabavant darab dekh garabai bhoomavant abhimaanee |

The rich man gazes upon his riches, and is proud of himself; the landlord takes pride in his lands.

ਰਾਜਾ ਜਾਨੈ ਸਗਲ ਰਾਜੁ ਹਮਰਾ ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਟੇਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੧॥

raajaa jaanai sagal raaj hamaraa tiau har jan ttek suaamee |1|

The king believes that the whole kingdom belongs to him; in the same way, the humble servant of the Lord looks upon the support of his Lord and Master. ||1||

ਜੇ ਕੋਊ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਓਟ ਸਮਾਰੈ ॥

je koaoo apunee ott samaarai |

When one considers the Lord to be his only support,

ਜੈਸਾ ਬਿਤੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਹੋਇ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਬਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਹਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jaisaa bit taisaa hoe varatai apunaa bal nahee haarai |1| rahaau |

then the Lord uses His power to help him; this power cannot be defeated. ||1||Pause||

ਆਨ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਭਏ ਇਕ ਆਸਰ ਸਰਣਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਕਰਿ ਆਏ ॥

aan tiaag bhe ik aasar saran saran kar aae |

Renouncing all others, I have sought the Support of the One Lord; I have come to Him, pleading, "Save me, save me!"

ਸੰਤ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹ ਭਏ ਮਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ॥੨॥੩॥੩੪॥

sant anugrah bhe man niramal naanak har gun gaae |2|3|34|

By the kindness and the Grace of the Saints, my mind has been purified; Nanak sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||3||34||
