ਤੂ ਠਾਕੁਰੋ ਬੈਰਾਗਰੋ ਮੈ ਜੇਹੀ ਘਣ ਚੇਰੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
too tthaakuro bairaagaro mai jehee ghan cheree raam |
O my Lord and Master, You are unattached; You have so many hand-maidens like me, Lord.
ਤੂੰ ਸਾਗਰੋ ਰਤਨਾਗਰੋ ਹਉ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
toon saagaro ratanaagaro hau saar na jaanaa teree raam |
You are the ocean, the source of jewels; I do not know Your value, Lord.
ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਤੂ ਵਡ ਦਾਣਾ ਕਰਿ ਮਿਹਰੰਮਤਿ ਸਾਂਈ ॥
saar na jaanaa too vadd daanaa kar miharamat saanee |
I do not know Your value; You are the wisest of all; please show Mercy unto me, O Lord.
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਜੈ ਸਾ ਮਤਿ ਦੀਜੈ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
kirapaa keejai saa mat deejai aatth pehar tudh dhiaaee |
Show Your Mercy, and bless me with such understanding, that I may meditate on You, twenty-four hours a day.
ਗਰਬੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ਰੇਣ ਹੋਵੀਜੈ ਤਾ ਗਤਿ ਜੀਅਰੇ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
garab na keejai ren hoveejai taa gat jeeare teree |
O soul, don't be so arrogant - become the dust of all, and you shall be saved.
ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮੈ ਜੇਹੀ ਘਣ ਚੇਰੀ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥
sabh aoopar naanak kaa tthaakur mai jehee ghan cheree raam |1|
Nanak's Lord is the Master of all; He has so many hand-maidens like me. ||1||
ਤੁਮੑ ਗਉਹਰ ਅਤਿ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰਾ ਤੁਮ ਪਿਰ ਹਮ ਬਹੁਰੀਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
tuma gauhar at gahir ganbheeraa tum pir ham bahureea raam |
Your depth is profound and utterly unfathomable; You are my Husband Lord, and I am Your bride.
ਤੁਮ ਵਡੇ ਵਡੇ ਵਡ ਊਚੇ ਹਉ ਇਤਨੀਕ ਲਹੁਰੀਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
tum vadde vadde vadd aooche hau itaneek lahureea raam |
You are the greatest of the great, exalted and lofty on high; I am infinitesimally small.
ਹਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਏਕੋ ਤੂਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਸੁਜਾਨਾ ॥
hau kichh naahee eko toohai aape aap sujaanaa |
I am nothing; You are the One and only. You Yourself are All-knowing.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨਿਮਖ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਵਾ ਸਰਬ ਰੰਗ ਰਸ ਮਾਨਾ ॥
amrit drisatt nimakh prabh jeevaa sarab rang ras maanaa |
With just a momentary Glance of Your Grace, God, I live; I enjoy all pleasures and delights.
ਚਰਣਹ ਸਰਨੀ ਦਾਸਹ ਦਾਸੀ ਮਨਿ ਮਉਲੈ ਤਨੁ ਹਰੀਆ ॥
charanah saranee daasah daasee man maulai tan hareea |
I seek the Sanctuary of Your Feet; I am the slave of Your slaves. My mind has blossomed forth, and my body is rejuvenated.
ਨਾਨਕ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਣਾ ਆਪਨ ਭਾਵਨ ਕਰੀਆ ॥੨॥
naanak tthaakur sarab samaanaa aapan bhaavan kareea |2|
O Nanak, the Lord and Master is contained amongst all; He does just as He pleases. ||2||
ਤੁਝੁ ਊਪਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ ਮਾਣਾ ਤੂਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਾਣਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
tujh aoopar meraa hai maanaa toohai meraa taanaa raam |
I take pride in You; You are my only Strength, Lord.
ਸੁਰਤਿ ਮਤਿ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਤੇਰੀ ਤੂ ਜਾਣਾਇਹਿ ਜਾਣਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
surat mat chaturaaee teree too jaanaaeihi jaanaa raam |
You are my understanding, intellect and knowledge. I know only what You cause me to know, Lord.
ਸੋਈ ਜਾਣੈ ਸੋਈ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਸਿਰੰਦੇ ॥
soee jaanai soee pachhaanai jaa kau nadar sirande |
He alone knows, and he alone understands, upon whom the Creator Lord bestows His Grace.
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭੂਲੀ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਰਾਹੀ ਫਾਥੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਫੰਦੇ ॥
manamukh bhoolee bahutee raahee faathee maaeaa fande |
The self-willed manmukh wanders along many paths, and is trapped in the net of Maya.
ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭਾਣੀ ਸਾ ਗੁਣਵੰਤੀ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣਾ ॥
tthaakur bhaanee saa gunavantee tin hee sabh rang maanaa |
She alone is virtuous, who is pleasing to her Lord and Master. She alone enjoys all the pleasures.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਧਰ ਤੂਹੈ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਤੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਮਾਣਾ ॥੩॥
naanak kee dhar toohai tthaakur too naanak kaa maanaa |3|
You, O Lord, are Nanak's only support. You are Nanak's only pride. ||3||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਵੰਞਾ ਘੋਲੀ ਵੰਞਾ ਤੂ ਪਰਬਤੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਓਲੑਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
hau vaaree vanyaa gholee vanyaa too parabat meraa olaa raam |
I am a sacrifice, devoted and dedicated to You; You are my sheltering mountain, Lord.
ਹਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਲਖ ਲਖ ਲਖ ਬਰੀਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਪਰਦਾ ਖੋਲੑਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
hau bal jaaee lakh lakh lakh bareea jin bhram paradaa kholaa raam |
I am a sacrifice, thousands, hundreds of thousands of times, to the Lord. He has torn away the veil of doubt;
ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਧਾਰੇ ਤਜੇ ਬਿਕਾਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਾ ॥
mitte andhaare taje bikaare tthaakur siau man maanaa |
darkness has been eliminated, and I have renounced corruption and sin. My mind is reconciled with my Lord and Master.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਭਾਣੀ ਭਈ ਨਿਕਾਣੀ ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ॥
prabh jee bhaanee bhee nikaanee safal janam paravaanaa |
I have become pleasing to my Dear God, and I have become carefree. My life is fulfilled and approved.
ਭਈ ਅਮੋਲੀ ਭਾਰਾ ਤੋਲੀ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਦਰੁ ਖੋਲੑਾ ॥
bhee amolee bhaaraa tolee mukat jugat dar kholaa |
I have become invaluable, of tremendous weight and value. The Door, and the Path of liberation are open to me now.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਉ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹੋਈ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਓਲੑਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੪॥
kahu naanak hau nirbhau hoee so prabh meraa olaa |4|1|4|
Says Nanak, I am fearless; God has become my Shelter and Shield. ||4||1||4||
