Gauree Gwaarayree, Third Mehl:

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਹੋਈ ॥

gur sevaa jug chaare hoee |

The Guru's service has been performed throughout the four ages.

ਪੂਰਾ ਜਨੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਕੋਈ ॥

pooraa jan kaar kamaavai koee |

Very few are those perfect ones who do this good deed.

ਅਖੁਟੁ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥

akhutt naam dhan har tott na hoee |

The wealth of the Lord's Name is inexhaustible; it shall never be exhausted.

ਐਥੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥

aithai sadaa sukh dar sobhaa hoee |1|

In this world, it brings a constant peace, and at the Lord's Gate, it brings honor. ||1||

ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥

e man mere bharam na keejai |

O my mind, have no doubt about this.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

guramukh sevaa amrit ras peejai |1| rahaau |

Those Gurmukhs who serve, drink in the Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||Pause||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਮਹਾਪੁਰਖ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥

satigur seveh se mahaapurakh sansaare |

Those who serve the True Guru are the greatest people of the world.

ਆਪਿ ਉਧਰੇ ਕੁਲ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥

aap udhare kul sagal nisataare |

They save themselves, and they redeem all their generations as well.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖਹਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ॥

har kaa naam rakheh ur dhaare |

They keep the Name of the Lord clasped tightly to their hearts.

ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਭਉਜਲ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਪਾਰੇ ॥੨॥

naam rate bhaujal utareh paare |2|

Attuned to the Naam, they cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ॥

satigur seveh sadaa man daasaa |

Serving the True Guru, the mind becomes humble forever.

ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ॥

haumai maar kamal paragaasaa |

Egotism is subdued, and the heart-lotus blossoms forth.

ਅਨਹਦੁ ਵਾਜੈ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ॥

anahad vaajai nij ghar vaasaa |

The Unstruck Melody vibrates, as they dwell within the home of the self.

ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਘਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਉਦਾਸਾ ॥੩॥

naam rate ghar maeh udaasaa |3|

Attuned to the Naam, they remain detached within their own home. ||3||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥

satigur seveh tin kee sachee baanee |

Serving the True Guru, their words are true.

ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥

jug jug bhagatee aakh vakhaanee |

Throughout the ages, the devotees chant and repeat these words.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਪਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਰੰਗਪਾਣੀ ॥

anadin japeh har saarangapaanee |

Night and day, they meditate on the Lord, the Sustainer of the Earth.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਨਿਹਕੇਵਲ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੩੩॥

naanak naam rate nihakeval nirabaanee |4|13|33|

O Nanak, attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord, they are detached, in the perfect balance of Nirvaanaa. ||4||13||33||
