ਲੈਲੇ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਦਾ ਕੁਤਾ ਮਜਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਿ ਲੁਭਾਣਾ ।

laile dee daragaah daa kutaa majanoo dekh lubhaanaa |

Beholding the dog of Laild's house, Majana was charmed.

ਕੁਤੇ ਦੀ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਵੈ ਹੜਿ ਹੜਿ ਹਸੈ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਡਾਣਾ ।

kute dee pairee pavai harr harr hasai lok viddaanaa |

He fell at the feet of dog seeing which people laughed roaringly.

ਮੀਰਾਸੀ ਮੀਰਾਸੀਆਂ ਨਾਮ ਧਰੀਕੁ ਮੁਰੀਦੁ ਬਿਬਾਣਾ ।

meeraasee meeraaseean naam dhareek mureed bibaanaa |

Out of (Muslim) bards one bard became disciple of Baia (Nanak).

ਕੁਤਾ ਡੂਮ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ ਕੁਤਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਕੁਤਿਆਂ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ।

kutaa ddoom vakhaaneeai kutaa vich kutiaan nimaanaa |

His companions called him a dog-bard, even among dogs a lowly one.

ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਆਸਕੁ ਸਬਦ ਦੇ ਕੁਤੇ ਦਾ ਪੜਕੁਤਾ ਭਾਣਾ ।

gurasikh aasak sabad de kute daa parrakutaa bhaanaa |

TheSikhs of the Guru who were suitors of the Word (the Brhm) took a fancy to that so-called dog of dogs.

ਕਟਣੁ ਚਟਣੁ ਕੁਤਿਆਂ ਮੋਹੁ ਨ ਧੋਹੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗਸਟੁ ਕਮਾਣਾ ।

kattan chattan kutiaan mohu na dhohu dhrigasatt kamaanaa |

Biting and licking is the nature of dogs but they have no infatuation, treachery or cursedness.

ਅਵਗੁਣਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਣੁ ਕਰਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੁਰਬਾਣਾ ।

avaguniaare gun karan guramukh saadhasangat kurabaanaa |

The gurmukhs are sacrifice unto the holy congregation because it is benevolent even to the evil and wicked persons.

ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਣੁ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਵਖਾਣਾ ।੩੧।੩੭। ਸੈਂਤੀ ।

Holy congregation is known for its reputation as uplifter of the fallen ones.
