Gauree, Kabeer Jee:

ਜਿਹ ਸਿਰਿ ਰਚਿ ਰਚਿ ਬਾਧਤ ਪਾਗ ॥

jih sir rach rach baadhat paag |

That head which was once embellished with the finest turban

ਸੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਚੁੰਚ ਸਵਾਰਹਿ ਕਾਗ ॥੧॥

so sir chunch savaareh kaag |1|

- upon that head, the crow now cleans his beak. ||1||

ਇਸੁ ਤਨ ਧਨ ਕੋ ਕਿਆ ਗਰਬਈਆ ॥

eis tan dhan ko kiaa garabeea |

What pride should we take in this body and wealth?

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਾਹੇ ਨ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੑੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

raam naam kaahe na drirraeea |1| rahaau |

Why not hold tight to the Lord's Name instead? ||1||Pause||

ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥

kehat kabeer sunahu man mere |

Says Kabeer, listen, O my mind:

ਇਹੀ ਹਵਾਲ ਹੋਹਿਗੇ ਤੇਰੇ ॥੨॥੩੫॥
