ਸਾਰਥੀ ਆਪਨੇ ਸੋ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਸੁ ਧਵਾਇ ਤਹੀ ਰਥ ਜੁਧੁ ਮਚਾਵੈ ॥

saarathee aapane so keh kai su dhavaae tahee rath judh machaavai |

Giving instructions to his charioteer and getting his chariot drive, he is waging a violent war

ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਤ ਸੂਰਨ ਪੈ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਥਨ ਕੋ ਅਰਥਾਵ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ॥

sasatr prahaarat sooran pai kar haathan ko arathaav dikhaavai |

Making signs with his hands, he is striking blows with his weapons

ਦੁੰਦਭਿ ਢੋਲ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਬਜੈ ਕਰਵਾਰ ਕਟਾਰਨ ਤਾਲ ਬਜਾਵੈ ॥

dundabh dtol mridang bajai karavaar kattaaran taal bajaavai |

Musical tunes are being played with small drums, drums, trumpets and swords .

ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਉਚਾਰ ਕਰੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਯੌ ਕਰਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਤ ਅਉ ਗਾਨ ਸੁਨਾਵੈ ॥੧੩੮੭॥

maar hee maar uchaar karai mukh yau kar nrit aau gaan sunaavai |1387|

He is dancing alongwith the shouts of “kill, kill and also singing.1387.

ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਅਲਾਪ ਉਚਾਰਤ ਦੁੰਦਭਿ ਢੋਲ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥

maar hee maar alaap uchaarat dundabh dtol mridang apaaraa |

The shouts of “kill, kill” and the sound of drums and trumpets are being heard

ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਅਤ੍ਰ ਤਰਾਕ ਲਗੈ ਤਿਹਿ ਤਾਲਨ ਕੋ ਠਨਕਾਰਾ ॥

satran ke sir atr taraak lagai tihi taalan ko tthanakaaraa |

With the blows of arms on the heads of the enemies, there is jingling of tunes

ਜੂਝਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਧਰਿ ਰੀਝ ਕੈ ਦੇਤ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਨ ਦਾਨ ਬਡੇ ਰਿਝਿਵਾਰਾ ॥

joojh gire dhar reejh kai det hai praanan daan badde rijhivaaraa |

The warriors while fighting and falling down appear like offering their life-force with pleasure

ਨਿਰਤ ਕਰੈ ਨਟ ਕੋਪ ਲਰੈ ਭਟ ਜੁਧ ਕੀ ਠਉਰ ਕਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਤ ਅਖਾਰਾ ॥੧੩੮੮॥

nirat karai natt kop larai bhatt judh kee tthaur ki nrit akhaaraa |1388|

The warriors are jumping up in anger and it cannot be said, whether it is the battlefield or the arena of dancing.1388.

ਰਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਭਈ ਰੰਗ ਭੂਮਿ ਮਨੋ ਧੁਨਿ ਦੁੰਦਭਿ ਬਾਜੇ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਹੀਯੋ ॥

ran bhoom bhee rang bhoom mano dhun dundabh baaje mridang heeyo |

The battlefield has become like an arena of dancing, where there is play of musical instruments and drums

ਸਿਰ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੇ ਪਰ ਅਤ੍ਰ ਲਗੈ ਤਤਕਾਰ ਤਰਾਕਨਿ ਤਾਲ ਲੀਯੋ ॥

sir satran ke par atr lagai tatakaar taraakan taal leeyo |

The heads of the enemies are producing a special sound and tune with the blows of arms

ਅਸਿ ਲਾਗਤ ਝੂਮਿ ਗਿਰੈ ਮਰਿ ਕੈ ਭਟ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਨ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਦਾਨ ਕੀਯੋ ॥

as laagat jhoom girai mar kai bhatt praanan maanahu daan keeyo |

The warriors falling on the earth seem to be making offerings of their life-breaths

ਬਰ ਨ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਰੈ ਕਿ ਲਰੈ ਨਟ ਜ︀ਯੋਂ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਸੁ ਰਾਗ ਕੀਯੋ ॥੧੩੮੯॥

bar nrit karai ki larai natt jayon nrip maar hee maar su raag keeyo |1389|

They are dancing and singing like the actors, the melody of “kill, kill”/1389.
