Bilaaval, Fourth Mehl:
ਅਨਦ ਮੂਲੁ ਧਿਆਇਓ ਪੁਰਖੋਤਮੁ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਅਨਦ ਅਨੰਦੇ ॥
anad mool dhiaaeo purakhotam anadin anad anande |
I meditate on the source of bliss, the Sublime Primal Being; night and day, I am in ecstasy and bliss.
ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕੀ ਕਾਣਿ ਚੁਕਾਈ ਸਭਿ ਚੂਕੇ ਜਮ ਕੇ ਛੰਦੇ ॥੧॥
dharam raae kee kaan chukaaee sabh chooke jam ke chhande |1|
The Righteous Judge of Dharma has no power over me; I have cast off all subservience to the Messenger of Death. ||1||
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੋੁਬਿੰਦੇ ॥
jap man har har naam goubinde |
Meditate, O mind, on the Naam, the Name of the Lord of the Universe.
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
vaddabhaagee gur satigur paaeaa gun gaae paramaanande |1| rahaau |
By great good fortune, I have found the Guru, the True Guru; I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of supreme bliss. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂੜ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬਧਿਕ ਵਿਚਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਫਿਰੰਦੇ ॥
saakat moorr maaeaa ke badhik vich maaeaa fireh firande |
The foolish faithless cynics are held captive by Maya; in Maya, they continue wandering, wandering around.
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਲਤ ਕਿਰਤ ਕੇ ਬਾਧੇ ਜਿਉ ਤੇਲੀ ਬਲਦ ਭਵੰਦੇ ॥੨॥
trisanaa jalat kirat ke baadhe jiau telee balad bhavande |2|
Burnt by desire, and bound by the karma of their past actions, they go round and round, like the ox at the mill press. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵ ਲਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੰਦੇ ॥
guramukh sev lage se udhare vaddabhaagee sev karande |
The Gurmukhs, who focus on serving the Guru, are saved; by great good fortune, they perform service.
ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਭਿ ਤੂਟੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਫੰਦੇ ॥੩॥
jin har japiaa tin fal paaeaa sabh tootte maaeaa fande |3|
Those who meditate on the Lord obtain the fruits of their rewards, and the bonds of Maya are all broken. ||3||
ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੇ ॥
aape tthaakur aape sevak sabh aape aap govinde |
He Himself is the Lord and Master, and He Himself is the servant. The Lord of the Universe Himself is all by Himself.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਸਭੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਜਿਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਰਹੰਦੇ ॥੪॥੬॥
jan naanak aape aap sabh varatai jiau raakhai tivai rahande |4|6|
O servant Nanak, He Himself is All-pervading; as He keeps us, we remain. ||4||6||
