Speech of the gopis addressed to Udhava:

ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

SWAYYA

ਮਿਲ ਕੈ ਤਿਨ ਊਧਵ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਸੁਨ ਊਧਵ ਯੌ ਕਹੀਯੋ ॥

mil kai tin aoodhav sang kahiyo har so sun aoodhav yau kaheeyo |

ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਕਰਿ ਊਧਵ ਗ︀ਯਾਨ ਜਿਤੋ ਪਠਿਯੋ ਤਿਤਨੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਗਹੀਯੋ ॥

keh kai kar aoodhav gayaan jito patthiyo titano sabh hee gaheeyo |

All of them collectively said to Udhava, “O Udhava! you may talk to Krishna like this that all the words of wisdom that he had sent through you, have been imbibed by us

ਸਭ ਹੀ ਇਨ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਪੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਹਿਤ ਆਖਨ ਸੋ ਚਹੀਯੋ ॥

sabh hee in gvaaran pai kab sayaam kahiyo hit aakhan so chaheeyo |

ਇਨ ਕੋ ਤੁਮ ਤਿਆਗ ਗਏ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਹਮਰੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਲੇਤ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੀਯੋ ॥੯੨੯॥

ein ko tum tiaag ge mathuraa hamaree sudh let sadaa raheeyo |929|

“O Udhava! taking into consideration our welfare, tell it definitely to Krishna that forsaking us he had gone to Matura, but there also he should keep in touch with us.”929.

ਜਬ ਊਧਵ ਸੋ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤਬ ਊਧਵ ਕੋ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਰਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

jab aoodhav so ih bhaat kahiyo tab aoodhav ko man prem bhariyo hai |

When gopis said all this to Udhava, he was then also filled with love

ਅਉਰ ਗਈ ਸੁਧਿ ਭੂਲ ਸਭੈ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਗ︀ਯਾਨ ਹੁਤੋ ਸੁ ਟਰਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

aaur gee sudh bhool sabhai man te sabh gayaan huto su ttariyo hai |

He lost his consciousness and the brilliance of wisdom ended in his mind

ਸੋ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਕੇ ਅਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਢਰਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

so mil kai sang gvaaran ke at preet kee baat ke sang dtariyo hai |

ਗ︀ਯਾਨ ਕੇ ਡਾਰ ਮਨੋ ਕਪਰੇ ਹਿਤ ਕੀ ਸਰਿਤਾ ਹਿਤ ਮਹਿ ਕੂਦ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥੯੩੦॥

gayaan ke ddaar mano kapare hit kee saritaa hit meh kood pariyo hai |930|

He also began to talk about love in the company of gopis and it appeared that he had put off the clothes of wisdom and had plunged into the stream of love.930.

ਯੌ ਕਹਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਗੁਆਰਨਿ ਕੇ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਗ੍ਵਾਰਨਿ ਕੋ ਹਿਤ ਚੀਨੋ ॥

yau keh sang guaaran ke jab hee sabh gvaaran ko hit cheeno |

When Udhava recognised the love of gopis, he also began to converse with the gopis about love

ਊਧਵ ਗ︀ਯਾਨ ਦਯੋ ਤਜਿ ਕੈ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਜਬ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੋ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹ ਕੀਨੋ ॥

aoodhav gayaan dayo taj kai man mai jab prem ko sangrah keeno |

Udhava gathered love in his mind and abandoned his wisdom

ਹੋਇ ਗਯੋ ਤਨਮੈ ਹਿਤ ਸੋ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੁ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਹੀਨੋ ॥

hoe gayo tanamai hit so ih bhaat kahiyo su kariyo brij heeno |

His mind was fille with love to such an extent that he also said that on forsaking Braja, Krishna had made Braja very poor

ਤ︀ਯਾਗਿ ਗਏ ਤੁਮ ਕੋ ਮਥਰਾ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਮ ਸਖੀ ਘਟ ਕੀਨੋ ॥੯੩੧॥

tayaag ge tum ko matharaa tih te har kaam sakhee ghatt keeno |931|

But O friend! the day when Krishna went to Mathura, his sexual instinct has deteriorated.931.
