ਮਾਇ ਨ ਬਾਪ ਜਾਨਿਯਤ ਜਾ ਕੌ ॥

maae na baap jaaniyat jaa kau |

ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਕਹੂ ਦੀਜਿਯਤ ਤਾ ਕੌ ॥

duhitaa kahoo deejiyat taa kau |

‘Who has no father or mother, why did she marry the daughter to him?

ਯਾ ਕੌ ਅਬੈ ਬਾਧਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਰੋ ॥

yaa kau abai baadh kar maaro |

ਰਾਨੀ ਦੁਹਤਾ ਸਹਿਤ ਸੰਘਾਰੋ ॥੭॥

raanee duhataa sahit sanghaaro |7|

‘Now tie him, kill him and also terminate the Rani and the daughter.’(7)

ਰਾਨੀ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਤ ਡਰਿ ਗਈ ॥

raanee bachan sunat ddar gee |

ਚੀਨਤ ਕਛੂ ਉਪਾਇ ਨ ਭਈ ॥

cheenat kachhoo upaae na bhee |

She was dreaded hearing the order and she could think nothing more

ਜਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਮਾਤਾ ਨਹਿ ਮਰਿਯੈ ॥

jaa te jaamaataa neh mariyai |

ਸੁਤਾ ਸਹਿਤ ਇਹ ਜਿਯਤ ਨਿਕਰਿਯੈ ॥੮॥

sutaa sahit ih jiyat nikariyai |8|

Than the means to save the son-in-law from death, and contemplated an escape for him and her daughter.(8)

ਰਾਨੀ ਏਕ ਮੰਗਾਇ ਪਿਟਾਰੋ ॥

raanee ek mangaae pittaaro |

ਦੁਹੂੰਅਨ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਕਨਾਰੇ ਡਾਰੋ ॥

duhoonan duhoon kanaare ddaaro |

She brought a big basket and asked them both to sit in there.

ਏਕ ਪਿਟਾਰੋ ਔਰ ਮੰਗਾਯੋ ॥

ek pittaaro aauar mangaayo |

ਵਹ ਪਿਟਾਰ ਤਿਹ ਭੀਤਰ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੯॥

veh pittaar tih bheetar paayo |9|

Then, she brought another large basket and placed the first one inside it.(9)
