ਅਮਿਤ ਦਰਬੁ ਹਮਰੇ ਬਿਧਿ ਦਯੋ ॥

amit darab hamare bidh dayo |

ਪੂਤ ਨ ਧਾਮ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਭਯੋ ॥

poot na dhaam hamaare bhayo |

‘God has endowed us with lot of wealth, but we had no issue.

ਯਾ ਕਉ ਹਮ ਕਹਿ ਪੂਤ ਉਚਾਰੋ ॥

yaa kau ham keh poot uchaaro |

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਨਹਿ ਮਾਰੋ ॥੯॥

taa te tum mil kai neh maaro |9|

‘We have taken him as our son and now you do not punish him.’(9)

ਪੂਤ ਪੂਤ ਬਨਿਯਾ ਕਹਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ॥

poot poot baniyaa keh rahiyo |

ਪੰਚ ਪਯਾਦਨ ਤਸਕਰ ਗਹਿਯੋ ॥

panch payaadan tasakar gahiyo |

ਤਾ ਕੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਏਕ ਨਹਿ ਕੀਨੋ ॥

taa ko kahiyo ek neh keeno |

ਲੈ ਤਸਕਰ ਫਾਸੀ ਸੋ ਦੀਨੋ ॥੧੦॥

lai tasakar faasee so deeno |10|

They did not listen to him and put the thief on the gallows.(10)(1)
