Maaroo, Third Mehl:

ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਕਰਣਾ ਸੋ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

jo tudh karanaa so kar paaeaa |

Whatever You do, is done.

ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਆਇਆ ॥

bhaane vich ko viralaa aaeaa |

How rare are those who walk in harmony with the Lord's Will.

ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨੇ ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧॥

bhaanaa mane so sukh paae bhaane vich sukh paaeidaa |1|

One who surrenders to the Lord's Will finds peace; he finds peace in the Lord's Will. ||1||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਵੈ ॥

guramukh teraa bhaanaa bhaavai |

Your Will is pleasing to the Gurmukh.

ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥

sahaje hee sukh sach kamaavai |

Practicing Truth, he intuitively finds peace.

ਭਾਣੇ ਨੋ ਲੋਚੈ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਆਪਿ ਮਨਾਇਦਾ ॥੨॥

bhaane no lochai bahuteree aapanaa bhaanaa aap manaaeidaa |2|

Many long to walk in harmony with the Lord's Will; He Himself inspires us to surrender to His Will. ||2||

ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨੇ ਸੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਏ ॥

teraa bhaanaa mane su milai tudh aae |

One who surrenders to Your Will, meets with You, Lord.

ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥

jis bhaanaa bhaavai so tujheh samaae |

One who is pleased with Your Will is immersed in You.

ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਭਾਣਾ ਕਿਸਹਿ ਕਰਾਇਦਾ ॥੩॥

bhaane vich vaddee vaddiaaee bhaanaa kiseh karaaeidaa |3|

Glorious greatness rests in God's Will; rare are those who accept it. ||3||

ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥

jaa tis bhaavai taa guroo milaae |

When it pleases His Will, He leads us to meet the Guru.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਏ ॥

guramukh naam padaarath paae |

The Gurmukh finds the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਣੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਭਾਣਾ ਦੇਹਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਇਦਾ ॥੪॥

tudh aapanai bhaanai sabh srisatt upaaee jis no bhaanaa dehi tis bhaaeidaa |4|

By Your Will, You created the whole Universe; those whom You bless with Your favor are pleased with Your Will. ||4||

ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਰੇ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥

manamukh andh kare chaturaaee |

The blind, self-willed manmukhs practice cleverness.

ਭਾਣਾ ਨ ਮੰਨੇ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥

bhaanaa na mane bahut dukh paaee |

They do not surrender to the Lord's Will, and suffer terrible pain.

ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ਘਰੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੫॥

bharame bhoolaa aavai jaae ghar mehal na kabahoo paaeidaa |5|

Deluded by doubt, they come and go in reincarnation; they never find the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. ||5||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥

satigur mele de vaddiaaee |

The True Guru brings Union, and grants glorious greatness.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਧੁਰਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਈ ॥

satigur kee sevaa dhur furamaaee |

The Primal Lord ordained service to the True Guru.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥

satigur seve taa naam paae naame hee sukh paaeidaa |6|

Serving the True Guru, the Naam is obtained. Through the Naam, one finds peace. ||6||

ਸਭ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਉਪਜੈ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਛੀਜੈ ॥

sabh naavahu upajai naavahu chheejai |

Everything wells up from the Naam, and through the Naam, perishes.

ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਭੀਜੈ ॥

gur kirapaa te man tan bheejai |

By Guru's Grace, the mind and body are pleased with the Naam.

ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਰਸਿ ਭੀਜੈ ਰਸ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੭॥

rasanaa naam dhiaae ras bheejai ras hee te ras paaeidaa |7|

Meditating on the Naam, the tongue is drenched with the Lord's sublime essence. Through this essence, the Essence is obtained. ||7||

ਮਹਲੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਕੋ ਪਾਏ ॥

mahalai andar mehal ko paae |

Rare are those who find the Mansion of the Lord's Presence within the mansion of their own body.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥

gur kai sabad sach chit laae |

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they lovingly focus their consciousness on the True Lord.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਚੁ ਦੇਇ ਸੋਈ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਏ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੮॥

jis no sach dee soee sach paae sache sach milaaeidaa |8|

Whoever the Lord blesses with Truth obtains Truth; he merges in Truth, and only Truth. ||8||

ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

naam visaar man tan dukh paaeaa |

Forgetting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the mind and body suffer in pain.

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥

maaeaa mohu sabh rog kamaaeaa |

Attached to the love of Maya, he earns nothing but disease.

ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹੈ ਕੁਸਟੀ ਨਰਕੇ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੯॥

bin naavai man tan hai kusattee narake vaasaa paaeidaa |9|

Without the Name, his mind and body are afflicted with leprosy, and he obtains his home in hell. ||9||

ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਦੇਹਾ ॥

naam rate tin niramal dehaa |

Those who are imbued with the Naam - their bodies are immaculate and pure.

ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੰਸਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨੇਹਾ ॥

niramal hansaa sadaa sukh nehaa |

Their soul-swan is immaculate, and in the Lord's Love, they find eternal peace.

ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੦॥

naam salaeh sadaa sukh paaeaa nij ghar vaasaa paaeidaa |10|

Praising the Naam, they find eternal peace, and dwell in the home of their own inner being. ||10||

ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰੇ ਵਾਪਾਰਾ ॥

sabh ko vanaj kare vaapaaraa |

Everyone deals and trades.

ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਤੋਟਾ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥

vin naavai sabh tottaa sansaaraa |

Without the Name, all the world loses.

ਨਾਗੋ ਆਇਆ ਨਾਗੋ ਜਾਸੀ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੧॥

naago aaeaa naago jaasee vin naavai dukh paaeidaa |11|

Naked they come, and naked they go; without the Name, they suffer in pain. ||11||

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਇ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ॥

jis no naam dee so paae |

He alone obtains the Naam, unto whom the Lord gives it.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥

gur kai sabad har man vasaae |

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind.

ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ॥੧੨॥

gur kirapaa te naam vasiaa ghatt antar naamo naam dhiaaeidaa |12|

By Guru's Grace, the Naam dwells deep within the heart, and one meditates upon the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||12||

ਨਾਵੈ ਨੋ ਲੋਚੈ ਜੇਤੀ ਸਭ ਆਈ ॥

naavai no lochai jetee sabh aaee |

Everyone who comes into the world, longs for the Name.

ਨਾਉ ਤਿਨਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਕਮਾਈ ॥

naau tinaa milai dhur purab kamaaee |

They alone are blessed with the Name, whose past actions were so ordained by the Primal Lord.

ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਉ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੩॥

jinee naau paaeaa se vaddabhaagee gur kai sabad milaaeidaa |13|

Those who obtain the Name are very fortunate. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they are united with God. ||13||

ਕਾਇਆ ਕੋਟੁ ਅਤਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥

kaaeaa kott at apaaraa |

Utterly incomparable is the fortress of the body.

ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਬਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥

tis vich beh prabh kare veechaaraa |

Within it, God sits in contemplation.

ਸਚਾ ਨਿਆਉ ਸਚੋ ਵਾਪਾਰਾ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੪॥

sachaa niaau sacho vaapaaraa nihachal vaasaa paaeidaa |14|

He administers true justice, and trades in Truth; through Him, one finds the eternal, unchanging dwelling. ||14||

ਅੰਤਰ ਘਰ ਬੰਕੇ ਥਾਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ॥

antar ghar banke thaan suhaaeaa |

Deep within the inner self are glorious homes and beautiful places.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਥਾਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

guramukh viralai kinai thaan paaeaa |

But rare is that person who, as Gurmukh, finds these places.

ਇਤੁ ਸਾਥਿ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ਸਚੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੫॥

eit saath nibahai saalaahe sache har sachaa man vasaaeidaa |15|

If one stays in these places, and praises the True Lord, the True Lord comes to dwell in the mind. ||15||

ਮੇਰੈ ਕਰਤੈ ਇਕ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥

merai karatai ik banat banaaee |

My Creator Lord has formed this formation.

ਇਸੁ ਦੇਹੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਭ ਵਥੁ ਪਾਈ ॥

eis dehee vich sabh vath paaee |

He has placed everything within this body.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਣਜਹਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੬॥੬॥੨੦॥

naanak naam vanajeh rang raate guramukh ko naam paaeidaa |16|6|20|

O Nanak, those who deal in the Naam are imbued with His Love. The Gurmukh obtains the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||16||6||20||
