Salok, Third Mehl:

ਸਤੀਆ ਏਹਿ ਨ ਆਖੀਅਨਿ ਜੋ ਮੜਿਆ ਲਗਿ ਜਲੰਨੑਿ ॥

sateea ehi na aakheean jo marriaa lag jalana |

Do not call them 'satee', who burn themselves along with their husbands' corpses.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤੀਆ ਜਾਣੀਅਨੑਿ ਜਿ ਬਿਰਹੇ ਚੋਟ ਮਰੰਨੑਿ ॥੧॥

naanak sateea jaaneeana ji birahe chott marana |1|

O Nanak, they alone are known as 'satee', who die from the shock of separation. ||1||
