ਬਿਰਧਿ ਹੋਆ ਜੰਜਾਲ ਵਿਚਿ ਮਹਾ ਜਾਲੁ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ਫਹਾਵੈ ।

biradh hoaa janjaal vich mahaa jaal paravaar fahaavai |

In old age he is caught in the large web of family affairs.

ਬਲ ਹੀਣਾ ਮਤਿ ਹੀਣੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਾਉ ਬਹਤਰਿਆ ਬਰੜਾਵੈ ।

ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਬੋਲਾ ਪਿੰਗਲਾ ਤਨੁ ਥਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਦਹ ਦਿਸੁ ਧਾਵੈ ।

anhaa bolaa pingalaa tan thakaa man deh dis dhaavai |

Ultimately he turns blind, deaf and lame and though the body gets tired yet his mind runs in ten directions.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਵਿਣੁ ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੂਨਿ ਭਵਾਵੈ ।

saadhasangat gur sabad vin lakh chauraaseeh joon bhavaavai |

Without holy congregation and bereft of Guru-word he transmigrates into infinite species of life.

ਅਉਸਰੁ ਚੁਕਾ ਹਥਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ।੧੮।

aausar chukaa hath na aavai |18|
