BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA
ਨਰੰ ਅਉਰ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੰ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
naran aaur naaraaeinan roop dhaaree |
ਭਯੋ ਸਾਮੁਹੇ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਸਤ੍ਰੰ ਸੰਭਾਰੀ ॥
bhayo saamuhe sasatr asatran sanbhaaree |
Manifesting himself as Nar and Narayan, Vishnu, managing his weapons and arms, came in front of the demon-forces.
ਭਟੰ ਐਠਿ ਫੈਂਟੇ ਭੁਜੰ ਠੋਕਿ ਭੂਪੰ ॥
bhattan aitth faintte bhujan tthok bhoopan |
The warriors tied their garments tightly and the kings beat their arms
ਬਜੇ ਸੂਲ ਸੇਲੰ ਭਏ ਆਪ ਰੂਪੰ ॥੧੫॥
baje sool selan bhe aap roopan |15|
It, that war, the tridents and the spears began to collide with each other.15.
ਪਰਿਯੋ ਆਪ ਮੋ ਲੋਹ ਕ੍ਰੋਹੰ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥
pariyo aap mo loh krohan apaaran |
ਧਰਿਯੋ ਐਸ ਕੈ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਵਤਾਰੰ ॥
dhariyo ais kai bisan triteeaavataaran |
In great anger. The blows of the steel-arms began to rain and at this juncture Vishnu manifested his third incarnation.
ਨਰੰ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੰ ਦੁਐ ਸਰੂਪੰ ॥

ਦਿਪੈ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਉਦਰ ਜੁ ਧਾਰੇ ਅਨੂਪੰ ॥੧੬॥

Nar and Narayan both had similar forms and their effulgence assumed unparalleled Lustre.16.
ਉਠੈ ਟੂਕ ਕੋਪੰ ਗੁਰਜੰ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ ॥
autthai ttook kopan gurajan prahaare |
ਜੁਟੇ ਜੰਗ ਕੋ ਜੰਗ ਜੋਧਾ ਜੁਝਾਰੇ ॥
jutte jang ko jang jodhaa jujhaare |
Wearing their helmets the warriors are striking their blows with maces and the mighty heroes are engrossed in the war.
ਉਡੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਪੂਰੰ ਛੁਹੀ ਐਨ ਗੈਨੰ ॥
auddee dhoor pooran chhuhee ain gainan |
ਡਿਗੇ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਦੈਤ ਕੰਪਿਯੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਨੈਨੰ ॥੧੭॥
ddige devataa dait kanpiyo trinainan |17|
The dust hath both the gods and demons, having gone astray, were falling and even the three-eyed god Shiva trembled.17.
ਗਿਰੇ ਬੀਰ ਏਕੰ ਅਨੇਕੰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੰ ॥
gire beer ekan anekan prakaaran |
ਸੁਭੈ ਜੰਗ ਮੋ ਜੰਗ ਜੋਧਾ ਜੁਝਾਰੰ ॥
subhai jang mo jang jodhaa jujhaaran |
Many types of warriors fell in the field and the great fighters looked impressive in the war.
ਪਰੀ ਤਛ ਮੁਛੰ ਸਭੈ ਅੰਗ ਭੰਗੰ ॥
paree tachh muchhan sabhai ang bhangan |
ਮਨੋ ਪਾਨ ਕੈ ਭੰਗ ਪੌਢੇ ਮਲੰਗੰ ॥੧੮॥
mano paan kai bhang pauadte malangan |18|
The brave fighters, being chopped into bits, began to fall and it appeared that the wrestlers are lying intoxicated after drinking hemp.18.
ਦਿਸਾ ਮਉ ਨ ਆਈ ਅਨੀ ਦੈਤ ਰਾਜੰ ॥
disaa mau na aaee anee dait raajan |
ਭਜੈ ਸਰਬ ਦੇਵੰ ਤਜੇ ਸਰਬ ਸਾਜੰ ॥
bhajai sarab devan taje sarab saajan |
More forces of demons came from another direction, seeing which the gods, leaving all their paraphernalia, ran away.
ਗਿਰੇ ਸੰਜ ਪੁੰਜ ਸਿਰੰ ਬਾਹੁ ਬੀਰੰ ॥
gire sanj punj siran baahu beeran |
ਸੁਭੈ ਬਾਨ ਜਿਉ ਚੇਤਿ ਪੁਹਪੰ ਕਰੀਰੰ ॥੧੯॥
subhai baan jiau chet puhapan kareeran |19|
The limbs began to fall in great numbers and the arrows looked auspicious in the manner of the flowers of capparis in the month of the Chaitra.19.
ਜਬੈ ਜੰਗ ਹਾਰਿਯੋ ਕੀਯੋ ਬਿਸਨ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੰ ॥
jabai jang haariyo keeyo bisan mantran |
ਭਯੋ ਅੰਤ੍ਰਧ︀ਯਾਨੰ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਜਾਨੁ ਤੰਤੰ ॥
bhayo antradhayaanan kariyo jaan tantan |
The gods were defeated in the war and Vishnu, thinking over it disappeared, with the help of Tantric science.
ਮਹਾ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰਿਯੋ ਅਨੂਪੰ ॥
mahaa mohanee roop dhaariyo anoopan |
ਛਕੇ ਦੇਖਿ ਦੋਊ ਦਿਤਿਯਾਦਿਤਿ ਭੂਪੰ ॥੨੦॥
chhake dekh doaoo ditiyaadit bhoopan |20|
Then he manifested himself in the unique form of Maha-Mohini, seeing whom, the chief of the demons and gods were highly pleased.20.
