ਅਥ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਕਥਨੰ ॥

Now begins the description of the incarnation named King Manu:
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਜੀ ਸਹਾਇ ॥

ਸ੍ਰਾਵਗ ਮਤ ਸਬ ਹੀ ਜਨ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
sraavag mat sab hee jan laage |
ਧਰਮ ਕਰਮ ਸਬ ਹੀ ਤਜਿ ਭਾਗੇ ॥
dharam karam sab hee taj bhaage |
All the people were absorbed in Shravak Religion (Jainism) and all abandoned the action of Dharma.
ਤ︀ਯਾਗ ਦਈ ਸਬਹੂੰ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
tayaag dee sabahoon har sevaa |
ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮਾਨਤ ਭੇ ਗੁਰ ਦੇਵਾ ॥੧॥
koe na maanat bhe gur devaa |1|
All of them forsook the service of the Lord and none worshipped the Supreme preceptor (the Immanent Lord).1.
ਸਾਧ ਅਸਾਧ ਸਬੈ ਹੁਐ ਗਏ ॥
saadh asaadh sabai huai ge |
ਧਰਮ ਕਰਮ ਸਬ ਹੂੰ ਤਜਿ ਦਏ ॥
dharam karam sab hoon taj de |
The saints became devoid of saintliness and all abandoned the action of Dharma
ਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਆਗ︀ਯਾ ਤਬ ਦੀਨੀ ॥
kaal purakh aagayaa tab deenee |
ਬਿਸਨੁ ਚੰਦ ਸੋਈ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੀਨੀ ॥੨॥
bisan chand soee bidh keenee |2|
Then the Immanent Lord ordered Vishnu, who did as commanded.2.
ਮਨੁ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਰਾਜ ਵਤਾਰ ਅਵਤਰਾ ॥
man hvai raaj vataar avataraa |
ਮਨੁ ਸਿਮਿਰਿਤਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੁਰ ਜਗਿ ਕਰਾ ॥
man simiriteh prachur jag karaa |
Vishnu manifested himself as king Manu and propagated Manu Smriti in the world.
ਸਕਲ ਕੁਪੰਥੀ ਪੰਥਿ ਚਲਾਏ ॥
sakal kupanthee panth chalaae |
ਪਾਪ ਕਰਮ ਤੇ ਲੋਗ ਹਟਾਏ ॥੩॥
paap karam te log hattaae |3|
He brought all the corrupt persons on the right path and cused the people to become devoid of sinful actions.3.
ਰਾਜ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਭਯੋ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
raaj avataar bhayo man raajaa |
ਸਰਬ ਹੀ ਸਿਰਜੇ ਧਰਮ ਕੇ ਸਾਜਾ ॥
sarab hee siraje dharam ke saajaa |
Vishnu incarnated himself as the king Manu and established all the actions of Dgarma.
ਪਾਪ ਕਰਾ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਗਹਿ ਮਾਰਾ ॥
paap karaa taa ko geh maaraa |
ਸਕਲ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਕਹੁ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਡਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
sakal prajaa kahu maarag ddaaraa |4|
If anyone committed a sin, he was now killed and in this way, the king made all his subjects to tread on the right path.4.
ਪਾਪ ਕਰਾ ਜਾ ਹੀ ਤਹ ਮਾਰਸ ॥
paap karaa jaa hee teh maaras |
ਸਕਲ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਕਹੁ ਧਰਮ ਸਿਖਾਰਸ ॥
sakal prajaa kahu dharam sikhaaras |
The sinner was killed instantly and all the subjects were given instructions on Dharma.
ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨ ਸਬਹੂਨ ਸਿਖਾਰਾ ॥
naam daan sabahoon sikhaaraa |
ਸ੍ਰਾਵਗ ਪੰਥ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰਾ ॥੫॥
sraavag panth door kar ddaaraa |5|
Now all attained the instructions about the Name of the Lord and about virtuous actions like charity etc. And in this way, the king got abandoned the discipline of Sharavaks.5.
ਜੇ ਜੇ ਭਾਜਿ ਦੂਰ ਕਹੁ ਗਏ ॥
je je bhaaj door kahu ge |
ਸ੍ਰਾਵਗ ਧਰਮਿ ਸੋਊ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ॥
sraavag dharam soaoo reh ge |
The people who had run away from the kingdom of the king Manu, they only remained adherents of Sharavak Religion.
ਅਉਰ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਸਬ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਲਾਈ ॥
aaur prajaa sab maarag laaee |
ਕੁਪੰਥ ਪੰਥ ਤੇ ਸੁਪੰਥ ਚਲਾਈ ॥੬॥
kupanth panth te supanth chalaaee |6|
All the remaining subjects followed the path of Dharma and abandoning the wrong path, acquired the path of Dharma.6.
ਰਾਜ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਭਯੋ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
raaj avataar bhayo man raajaa |
ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਜਗ ਮੋ ਭਲੁ ਸਾਜਾ ॥
karam dharam jag mo bhal saajaa |
The king Manu was the incarnation of Vishnu and he propagated in the right manner the actions of Dharma.
ਸਕਲ ਕੁਪੰਥੀ ਪੰਥ ਚਲਾਏ ॥
sakal kupanthee panth chalaae |
ਪਾਪ ਕਰਮ ਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਲਗਾਏ ॥੭॥
paap karam te dharam lagaae |7|
He put all the followers of wrong values on the right path an brought the people towards Dharma, who were absorbed then in sinful action.7.
