Saarang, Fifth Mehl:

ਗੁਰ ਜੀਉ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਨਿਓ ॥

gur jeeo sang tuhaarai jaanio |

O Dear Guru, by associating with You, I have come to know the Lord.

ਕੋਟਿ ਜੋਧ ਉਆ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਨ ਪੁਛੀਐ ਤਾਂ ਦਰਗਹ ਭੀ ਮਾਨਿਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

kott jodh uaa kee baat na puchheeai taan daragah bhee maanio |1| rahaau |

There are millions of heroes, and no one pays any attention to them, but in the Court of the Lord, I am honored and respected. ||1||Pause||

ਕਵਨ ਮੂਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਕਾ ਕਹੀਐ ਕਵਨ ਰੂਪੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਨਿਓ ॥

kavan mool praanee kaa kaheeai kavan roop drisattaanio |

What is the origin of the human beings? How beautiful they are!

ਜੋਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਭਈ ਮਾਟੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਦੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਬਖਾਨਿਓ ॥੧॥

jot pragaas bhee maattee sang dulabh deh bakhaanio |1|

When God infuses His Light into clay, the human body is judged to be precious. ||1||

ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਸੇਵ ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਜਪ ਤਾਪਾ ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਤਤੁ ਪਛਾਨਿਓ ॥

tum te sev tum te jap taapaa tum te tat pachhaanio |

From You, I have learned to serve; from You, I have learned to chant and meditate; from You, I have realized the essence of reality.

ਕਰੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਧਰਿ ਕਟੀ ਜੇਵਰੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਦਸਾਨਿਓ ॥੨॥੩੯॥੬੨॥

kar masatak dhar kattee jevaree naanak daas dasaanio |2|39|62|

Placing His Hand on my forehead, He has cut away the bonds which held me; O Nanak, I am the slave of His slaves. ||2||39||62||
