ਰੂਪ ਰਾਗ ਨ ਰੇਖ ਰੰਗ ਨ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਬਿਹੀਨ ॥

roop raag na rekh rang na janam maran biheen |

He is without form, affection, mark and colour and also without birth and death.

ਆਦਿ ਨਾਥ ਅਗਾਧ ਪੁਰਖ ਸੁ ਧਰਮ ਕਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ॥

aad naath agaadh purakh su dharam karam prabeen |

He is the Primal Master, Unfathomable and All-Pervading Lord and also adept in pious actions.

ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਨ ਤੰਤ੍ਰ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਪਾਰ ॥

jantr mantr na tantr jaa ko aad purakh apaar |

He is the Primal and Infinite Purusha without any Yantra, Mantra and Tantra.

ਹਸਤ ਕੀਟ ਬਿਖੈ ਬਸੈ ਸਭ ਠਉਰ ਮੈ ਨਿਰਧਾਰ ॥੧॥੧੮੧॥

hasat keett bikhai basai sabh tthaur mai niradhaar |1|181|

He abides in both the elephant and the ant, and be considered living at all the places. 1.181.

ਜਾਤਿ ਪਾਤਿ ਨ ਤਾਤ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਮਾਤ ਨ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ॥

jaat paat na taat jaa ko mantr maat na mitr |

He is without caste, lineage, father, mother, adviser and friend.

ਸਰਬ ਠਉਰ ਬਿਖੈ ਰਮਿਓ ਜਿਹ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਚਿਹਨ ਨ ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ॥

sarab tthaur bikhai ramio jih chakr chihan na chitr |

He is All-Pervading, and without mark, sign and picture.

ਆਦਿ ਦੇਵ ਉਦਾਰ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਗਾਧ ਨਾਥ ਅਨੰਤ ॥

aad dev udaar moorat agaadh naath anant |

He is the Primal Lord, beneficent Entity, Unfathomable and Infinite Lord.

ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤ ਨ ਜਾਨੀਐ ਅਬਿਖਾਦ ਦੇਵ ਦੁਰੰਤ ॥੨॥੧੮੨॥

aad ant na jaaneeai abikhaad dev durant |2|182|

His Beginning and End are unknown and He is far away from conflicts.2.182.

ਦੇਵ ਭੇਵ ਨ ਜਾਨਹੀ ਜਿਹ ਮਰਮ ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ॥

dev bhev na jaanahee jih maram bed kateb |

His secrets are not known to gods and also the Vedas and Semitic texts.

ਸਨਕ ਔ ਸਨਕੇਸ ਨੰਦਨ ਪਾਵਹੀ ਨ ਹਸੇਬ ॥

sanak aau sanakes nandan paavahee na haseb |

Sanak, Sanandan etc the Sons of Brahma could not know His secret in spite of their service.

ਜਛ ਕਿੰਨਰ ਮਛ ਮਾਨਸ ਮੁਰਗ ਉਰਗ ਅਪਾਰ ॥

jachh kinar machh maanas murag urag apaar |

Also Yakshas, Kinnars, fishes, men and many beings and serpents of the nether-world.

ਨੇਤਿ ਨੇਤਿ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਹੀ ਸਿਵ ਸਕ੍ਰ ਔ ਮੁਖਚਾਰ ॥੩॥੧੮੩॥

net net pukaar hee siv sakr aau mukhachaar |3|183|

The gods Shiva, Indra and Brahma repeat ‘Neti, Neti’ about Him.3.183.

ਸਰਬ ਸਪਤ ਪਤਾਰ ਕੇ ਤਰ ਜਾਪ ਹੀ ਜਿਹ ਜਾਪ ॥

sarab sapat pataar ke tar jaap hee jih jaap |

All the beings of the seven nether-worlds down below repeats His Name.

ਆਦਿ ਦੇਵ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਤੇਜ ਅਨਾਦ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਤਾਪ ॥

aad dev agaadh tej anaad moorat ataap |

He is the Primal Lord of Unfathomable Glory, the Beginningless and Anguishless Entity.

ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਕਰ ਤੰਤ੍ਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਨ ਕੀਨ ॥

jantr mantr na aavee kar tantr mantr na keen |

He cannot be overpowered by Yantras and Mantras, He never yielded before Tantras and Mantras.

ਸਰਬ ਠਉਰ ਰਹਿਓ ਬਿਰਾਜ ਧਿਰਾਜ ਰਾਜ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ॥੪॥੧੮੪॥

sarab tthaur rahio biraaj dhiraaj raaj prabeen |4|184|

That superb Sovereign is All-Pervading and Scans all.4.184.

ਜਛ ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬ ਦੇਵ ਦਾਨੋ ਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਛਤ੍ਰੀਅਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥

jachh gandhrab dev daano na braham chhatreean maeh |

He is neither in Yakshas, Gandharvas, gods and demons, nor in Brahmins and Kshatriyas.

ਬੈਸਨੰ ਕੇ ਬਿਖੈ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ਸੂਦ੍ਰ ਭੀ ਵਹ ਨਾਹਿ ॥

baisanan ke bikhai biraajai soodr bhee veh naeh |

He is neither in Vaishnavas nor in Shudras.

ਗੂੜ ਗਉਡ ਨ ਭੀਲ ਭੀਕਰ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੇਖ ਸਰੂਪ ॥

goorr gaudd na bheel bheekar braham sekh saroop |

He is neither in Rajputs, Gaurs and Bhils, nor in Brahmins and Sheikths.

ਰਾਤਿ ਦਿਵਸ ਨ ਮਧ ਉਰਧ ਨ ਭੂਮ ਅਕਾਸ ਅਨੂਪ ॥੫॥੧੮੫॥

raat divas na madh uradh na bhoom akaas anoop |5|185|

He is neither within night and day He, the Unique Lord is also not within earth, sky and nether-world.5.185.

ਜਾਤਿ ਜਨਮ ਨ ਕਾਲ ਕਰਮ ਨ ਧਰਮ ਕਰਮ ਬਿਹੀਨ ॥

jaat janam na kaal karam na dharam karam biheen |

He is without caste, birth, death and action and also without the impact of religious rituals.

ਤੀਰਥ ਜਾਤ੍ਰ ਨ ਦੇਵ ਪੂਜਾ ਗੋਰ ਕੇ ਨ ਅਧੀਨ ॥

teerath jaatr na dev poojaa gor ke na adheen |

He is beyond the impact of pilgrimage, worship of deities and the sacrament of creation.

ਸਰਬ ਸਪਤ ਪਤਾਰ ਕੇ ਤਰ ਜਾਨੀਐ ਜਿਹ ਜੋਤ ॥

sarab sapat pataar ke tar jaaneeai jih jot |

His Light Pervades in all the beings of the seven nether-worlds down below.

ਸੇਸ ਨਾਮ ਸਹੰਸ੍ਰ ਫਨ ਨਹਿ ਨੇਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਤ ॥੬॥੧੮੬॥

ses naam sahansr fan neh net pooran hot |6|186|

The Sheshananga with his thousand hoods repeats His Names, but still short of his efforts.6.186.

ਸੋਧਿ ਸੋਧਿ ਹਟੇ ਸਭੈ ਸੁਰ ਬਿਰੋਧ ਦਾਨਵ ਸਰਬ ॥

sodh sodh hatte sabhai sur birodh daanav sarab |

All the gods and demons have grown tired in His search.

ਗਾਇ ਗਾਇ ਹਟੇ ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬ ਗਵਾਇ ਕਿੰਨਰ ਗਰਬ ॥

gaae gaae hatte gandhrab gavaae kinar garab |

The ego of Gandharvas and Kinnars has been shattered by singing His Praises continuously.

ਪੜ੍ਹਤ ਪੜ੍ਹਤ ਥਕੇ ਮਹਾ ਕਬਿ ਗੜ੍ਹਤ ਗਾੜ੍ਹ ਅਨੰਤ ॥

parrhat parrhat thake mahaa kab garrhat gaarrh anant |

The great poets have become weary of reading and composing their innumerable epics.

ਹਾਰਿ ਹਾਰਿ ਕਹਿਓ ਸਭੂ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਦੁਰੰਤ ॥੭॥੧੮੭॥

haar haar kahio sabhoo mil naam naam durant |7|187|

All have ultimately declared that the meditation on the Name of the Lord is a very hard task. 7.187.

ਬੇਦ ਭੇਦ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਲਖਿਓ ਨ ਸੇਬ ਕਤੇਬ ॥

bed bhed na paaeo lakhio na seb kateb |

The Vedas have not been able to know His mystery and the Semitic Scriptures could not comprehend His service.

ਦੇਵ ਦਾਨੋ ਮੂੜ ਮਾਨੋ ਜਛ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਜੇਬ ॥

dev daano moorr maano jachh na jaanai jeb |

The gods, demons and men are foolish and the Yakshas do not know His Glory.

ਭੂਤ ਭਬ ਭਵਾਨ ਭੂਪਤ ਆਦਿ ਨਾਥ ਅਨਾਥ ॥

bhoot bhab bhavaan bhoopat aad naath anaath |

He is the king of past, present and future and Primal Master of the Masterless.

ਅਗਨਿ ਬਾਇ ਜਲੇ ਥਲੇ ਮਹਿ ਸਰਬ ਠਉਰ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥੮॥੧੮੮॥

agan baae jale thale meh sarab tthaur nivaas |8|188|

He abides at all the places including fire, air, water and earth.8.188.

ਦੇਹ ਗੇਹ ਨ ਨੇਹ ਸਨੇਹ ਅਬੇਹ ਨਾਥ ਅਜੀਤ ॥

deh geh na neh saneh abeh naath ajeet |

He hath no affection for body or love for home, He is Invincible and Unconquerable Lord.

ਸਰਬ ਗੰਜਨ ਸਰਬ ਭੰਜਨ ਸਰਬ ਤੇ ਅਨਭੀਤ ॥

sarab ganjan sarab bhanjan sarab te anabheet |

He is Destroyer and defacer of all, He is without malice and Merciful to all.

ਸਰਬ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਹਰਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਦ︀ਯਾਲ ਅਦ੍ਵੇਖ ॥

sarab karataa sarab harataa sarab dayaal advekh |

He is Creator and Destroyer of all, He is without malice and Merciful to all.

ਚਕ੍ਰ ਚਿਹਨ ਨ ਬਰਨ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਾਤਿ ਨ ਭੇਖ ॥੯॥੧੮੯॥

chakr chihan na baran jaa ko jaat paat na bhekh |9|189|

He is without mark, sign, and colour He is without caste, linege and guise.9.189.

ਰੂਪ ਰੇਖ ਨ ਰੰਗ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਰਾਗ ਰੂਪ ਨ ਰੰਗ ॥

roop rekh na rang jaa ko raag roop na rang |

He is without form, line and colour, and hath no affection for sond and beauty.

ਸਰਬ ਲਾਇਕ ਸਰਬ ਘਾਇਕ ਸਰਬ ਤੇ ਅਨਭੰਗ ॥

sarab laaeik sarab ghaaeik sarab te anabhang |

He is capable to do everything, He is the Destroyer of all and cannot be vanquished by anyone.

ਸਰਬ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਗ︀ਯਾਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥

sarab daataa sarab gayaataa sarab ko pratipaal |

He is the Donor, Knower and Sustainer of all.

ਦੀਨ ਬੰਧੁ ਦਯਾਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਦਿ ਦੇਵ ਅਪਾਲ ॥੧੦॥੧੯੦॥

deen bandh dayaal suaamee aad dev apaal |10|190|

He is the friend of the poor, He is the beneficent Lord and patronless Primal Deity.10.190.

ਦੀਨ ਬੰਧੁ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਪਤਿ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਕਰਤਾਰ ॥

deen bandh prabeen sree pat sarab ko karataar |

He, the adept Lord of maya, is the friend of the lowly and Creator of all.

ਬਰਨ ਚਿਹਨ ਨ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਚਿਹਨ ਅਕਾਰ ॥

baran chihan na chakr jaa ko chakr chihan akaar |

He is without colour, mark and sign He is without mark, sing and form.

ਜਾਤਿ ਪਾਤਿ ਨ ਗੋਤ੍ਰ ਗਾਥਾ ਰੂਪ ਰੇਖ ਨ ਬਰਨ ॥

jaat paat na gotr gaathaa roop rekh na baran |

He is without caste , lineage and story of descent He is without form, line and colour.

ਸਰਬ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਗਯਾਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਭੂਅ ਕੋ ਭਰਨ ॥੧੧॥੧੯੧॥

sarab daataa sarab gayaataa sarab bhooa ko bharan |11|191|

He is the Donor and Knower of all and the Sustainer of all the universe. 11.191.

ਦੁਸਟ ਗੰਜਨ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਭੰਜਨ ਪਰਮ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਥ ॥

dusatt ganjan satru bhanjan param purakh pramaath |

He is the Destroyer of the tyrants and vanquisher of the enemies, and the Omnipotent Supreme Purusha.

ਦੁਸਟ ਹਰਤਾ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟ ਕਰਤਾ ਜਗਤ ਮੈ ਜਿਹ ਗਾਥ ॥

dusatt harataa srisatt karataa jagat mai jih gaath |

He is Vanquisher of the tyrants and the Creator of the universe, and His Story is being narrated in the whole world.

ਭੂਤ ਭਬਿ ਭਵਿਖ ਭਵਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨ ਦੇਵ ਅਗੰਜ ॥

bhoot bhab bhavikh bhavaan pramaan dev aganj |

He, the Invincible Lord, is the same in the Past, Present and Future.

ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤ ਅਨਾਦਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਪਤਿ ਪਰਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਭੰਜ ॥੧੨॥੧੯੨॥

aad ant anaad sree pat param purakh abhanj |12|192|

He, the Lord of maya, the Immortal and unassailable Supreme Purusha, was there in the beginning and will be there at the end.12.192.

ਧਰਮ ਕੇ ਅਨਕਰਮ ਜੇਤਕ ਕੀਨ ਤਉਨ ਪਸਾਰ ॥

dharam ke anakaram jetak keen taun pasaar |

He hath spread all the other religious practices.

ਦੇਵ ਅਦੇਵ ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬ ਕਿੰਨਰ ਮਛ ਕਛ ਅਪਾਰ ॥

dev adev gandhrab kinar machh kachh apaar |

He hath Created innumerable gods, demons, Gandharvas, Kinnars, fish incarnations and tortoise incarnations.

ਭੂਮ ਅਕਾਸ ਜਲੇ ਥਲੇ ਮਹਿ ਮਾਨੀਐ ਜਿਹ ਨਾਮ ॥

bhoom akaas jale thale meh maaneeai jih naam |

His Name is reverently repeated by the beings on earth, in sky, in water and on land.

ਦੁਸਟ ਹਰਤਾ ਪੁਸਟ ਕਰਤਾ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਹਰਤਾ ਕਾਮ ॥੧੩॥੧੯੩॥

dusatt harataa pusatt karataa srisatt harataa kaam |13|193|

His works include the decimation of tyrants, giving of strength (to the saints) and support to the world.13.193.

ਦੁਸਟ ਹਰਨਾ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟ ਕਰਨਾ ਦਿਆਲ ਲਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥

dusatt haranaa srisatt karanaa diaal laal gobind |

The Beloved Merciful Lord is the Vanquisher of the tyrants and the Creator of the Universe.

ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਾਲਕ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਘਾਲਕ ਦੀਨ ਦ︀ਯਾਲ ਮੁਕੰਦ ॥

mitr paalak satr ghaalak deen dayaal mukand |

He is the Sustainer of the friends and the slayer of the enemies.

ਅਘੌ ਦੰਡਣ ਦੁਸਟ ਖੰਡਣ ਕਾਲ ਹੂੰ ਕੇ ਕਾਲ ॥

aghau danddan dusatt khanddan kaal hoon ke kaal |

He, the Merciful Lord of the lowely, He is the punisher of the sinners and destroyer of the tyrants He is the decimater even of death.

ਦੁਸਟ ਹਰਣੰ ਪੁਸਟ ਕਰਣੰ ਸਰਬ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥੧੪॥੧੯੪॥

dusatt haranan pusatt karanan sarab ke pratipaal |14|194|

He is the Vanquisher of the tyrants, giver of strength (to the saints) and the Sustainer of all.14.194.

ਸਰਬ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਹਰਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਤੇ ਅਨਕਾਮ ॥

sarab karataa sarab harataa sarab te anakaam |

He is the Creator and Destroyer of all and the fulfiller of the desires of all.

ਸਰਬ ਖੰਡਣ ਸਰਬ ਦੰਡਣ ਸਰਬ ਕੇ ਨਿਜ ਭਾਮ ॥

sarab khanddan sarab danddan sarab ke nij bhaam |

He is the Destroyer and Punisher of all and also their personal Abode.

ਸਰਬ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਜੁਗਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਕਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ॥

sarab bhugataa sarab jugataa sarab karam prabeen |

He is the enjoyer of all and is united with all, He is also an adept in all karmas ( actions)

ਸਰਬ ਖੰਡਣ ਸਰਬ ਦੰਡਣ ਸਰਬ ਕਰਮ ਅਧੀਨ ॥੧੫॥੧੯੫॥

sarab khanddan sarab danddan sarab karam adheen |15|195|

He is the Destroyer and Punisher of all and keeps all the works under His control.15.195.

ਸਰਬ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਨ ਸਰਬ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਸਰਬ ਬੇਦ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥

sarab sinmritan sarab saasatran sarab bed bichaar |

He is not within the contemplation of all the Smritis, all the Shastras and all the Vedas.

ਦੁਸਟ ਹਰਤਾ ਬਿਸ੍ਵ ਭਰਤਾ ਆਦਿ ਰੂਪ ਅਪਾਰ ॥

dusatt harataa bisv bharataa aad roop apaar |

He, the Infinite Primal Entity is the Vanquisher of the tyrants and the Sustainer of the universe.

ਦੁਸਟ ਦੰਡਣ ਪੁਸਟ ਖੰਡਣ ਆਦਿ ਦੇਵ ਅਖੰਡ ॥

dusatt danddan pusatt khanddan aad dev akhandd |

He, the Primal Indivisible Lord is the punisher of the tyrants and breaker of the ego of the mighty.

ਭੂਮ ਅਕਾਸ ਜਲੇ ਥਲੇ ਮਹਿ ਜਪਤ ਜਾਪ ਅਮੰਡ ॥੧੬॥੧੯੬॥

bhoom akaas jale thale meh japat jaap amandd |16|196|

The name of that Uninstalled Lord is being repeated by the beings of earth, sky, water and land.16.196.

ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਚਾਰ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਜੇਤੇ ਜਾਨੀਐ ਸਬਚਾਰ ॥

srisattaachaar bichaar jete jaaneeai sabachaar |

All the pious thoughts of the world known through the medium of knowledge.

ਆਦਿ ਦੇਵ ਅਪਾਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਪਤਿ ਦੁਸਟ ਪੁਸਟ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ॥

aad dev apaar sree pat dusatt pusatt prahaar |

They are all within that Infinite Primal Lord of maya, the Destroyer of mighty tyrants.

ਅੰਨ ਦਾਤਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਗਿਆਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਮਾਨ ਮਹਿੰਦ੍ਰ ॥

an daataa giaan giaataa sarab maan mahindr |

He is the Donor of Sustenance, the Knower of Knowledge and the Sovereign revered by all.

ਬੇਦ ਬਿਆਸ ਕਰੇ ਕਈ ਦਿਨ ਕੋਟਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਉਪਿੰਦ੍ਰ ॥੧੭॥੧੯੭॥

bed biaas kare kee din kott indr upindr |17|197|

He hath Created many Ved Vyas and millions of Indras and other gods.17.197.

ਜਨਮ ਜਾਤਾ ਕਰਮ ਗਿਆਤਾ ਧਰਮ ਚਾਰ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥

janam jaataa karam giaataa dharam chaar bichaar |

He is the cause of birth and knower of actions and notions of beauteous religious discipline.

ਬੇਦ ਭੇਵ ਨ ਪਾਵਈ ਸਿਵ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਔਰ ਮੁਖਚਾਰ ॥

bed bhev na paavee siv rudr aauar mukhachaar |

But the Vedas, Shiva, Rudra and Brahma could not Know His mystery and the secret of His notions.

ਕੋਟਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਉਪਿੰਦ੍ਰ ਬਿਆਸ ਸਨਕ ਸਨਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ ॥

kott indr upindr biaas sanak sanat kumaar |

Milions of Indras and other subordinate gods, Vyas, Sanak and Sanat Kumar.

ਗਾਇ ਗਾਇ ਥਕੇ ਸਭੈ ਗੁਨ ਚਕ੍ਰਤ ਭੇ ਮੁਖਚਾਰ ॥੧੮॥੧੯੮॥

gaae gaae thake sabhai gun chakrat bhe mukhachaar |18|198|

They and Brahma have got tired of singing His Praises in state of astonishment.18.198.

ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤ ਨ ਮਧ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਭੂਤ ਭਬ ਭਵਾਨ ॥

aad ant na madh jaa ko bhoot bhab bhavaan |

He is devoid of beginning, middle and end and also of past, present and future.

ਸਤਿ ਦੁਆਪਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਤੀਆ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਚਤ੍ਰ ਕਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ॥

sat duaapar triteea kalijug chatr kaal pradhaan |

He is Supremely Pervasive in the four ages of Satyuga, Treta, Dvapara and Kaliyuga.

ਧਿਆਇ ਧਿਆਇ ਥਕੇ ਮਹਾ ਮੁਨਿ ਗਾਇ ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
