ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਕੇ ਹੁਇ ਕੈ ਉਦਾਸ ਅਵਾਸ ਕੋ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਬਸਿਓ ਬਨਿ ਰਾਈ ॥

traas kuttanb ke hue kai udaas avaas ko tiaag basio ban raaee |

Dejected on account of the tragic happening in the family, he deserted his home and came to live in the forest.

ਨਾਮ ਸੁਰਥ ਮੁਨੀਸਰ ਬੇਖ ਸਮੇਤ ਸਮਾਦਿ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਲਗਾਈ ॥

naam surath muneesar bekh samet samaad samaadh lagaaee |

His name was Surath and adopting the garb of sages, he engaged himself in contemplation.

ਚੰਡ ਅਖੰਡ ਖੰਡੇ ਕਰ ਕੋਪ ਭਈ ਸੁਰ ਰਛਨ ਕੋ ਸਮੁਹਾਈ ॥

chandd akhandd khandde kar kop bhee sur rachhan ko samuhaaee |

The goddess Chandika of perfect brilliance is there before all, She is the destroyer of demons and Protector of gods.

ਬੂਝਹੁ ਜਾਇ ਤਿਨੈ ਤੁਮ ਸਾਧ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਕਥਾ ਕਿਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥੭॥

boojhahu jaae tinai tum saadh agaadh kathaa kih bhaat sunaaee |7|
