Basant, Fifth Mehl:

ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਸਰੇਵਤ ਦੁਖੁ ਗਇਆ ॥

gur charan sarevat dukh geaa |

Dwelling at the Guru's Feet, pain and suffering go away.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਰੀ ਮਇਆ ॥

paarabraham prabh karee meaa |

The Supreme Lord God has shown mercy to me.

ਸਰਬ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ॥

sarab manorath pooran kaam |

All my desires and tasks are fulfilled.

ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ॥੧॥

jap jeevai naanak raam naam |1|

Chanting the Lord's Name, Nanak lives. ||1||

ਸਾ ਰੁਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਵੈ ॥

saa rut suhaavee jit har chit aavai |

How beautiful is that season, when the Lord fills the mind.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੀਸੈ ਬਿਲਲਾਂਤੀ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

bin satigur deesai bilalaantee saakat fir fir aavai jaavai |1| rahaau |

Without the True Guru, the world weeps. The faithless cynic comes and goes in reincarnation, over and over again. ||1||Pause||

ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਸਿ ॥

se dhanavant jin har prabh raas |

They alone are rich, who have the Wealth of the Lord God.

ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਾਸਿ ॥

kaam krodh gur sabad naas |

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, sexual desire and anger are eradicated.

ਭੈ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

bhai binase nirabhai pad paaeaa |

Their fear is dispelled, and they attain the state of fearlessness.

ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਖਸਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੨॥

gur mil naanak khasam dhiaaeaa |2|

Meeting with the Guru, Nanak meditates on his Lord and Master. ||2||

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਓ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥

saadhasangat prabh keeo nivaas |

God dwells in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਹੋਈ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸ ॥

har jap jap hoee pooran aas |

Chanting and meditating on the Lord, one's hopes are fulfilled.

ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ॥

jal thal maheeal rav rahiaa |

God permeates and pervades the water, the land and the sky.

ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ॥੩॥

gur mil naanak har har kahiaa |3|

Meeting with the Guru, Nanak chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||

ਅਸਟ ਸਿਧਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਏਹ ॥

asatt sidh nav nidh eh |

The eight miraculous spiritual powers and the nine treasures are contained in the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹ ॥

karam paraapat jis naam deh |

This is bestowed when God grants His Grace.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ॥

prabh jap jap jeeveh tere daas |

Your slaves, O God, live by chanting and meditating on Your Name.

ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥੪॥੧੩॥

gur mil naanak kamal pragaas |4|13|

O Nanak, the heart-lotus of the Gurmukh blossoms forth. ||4||13||
