Now begins the speech of Krishna addressed to Nand

ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥

SWAYYA

ਚਲਿ ਆਇ ਕੈ ਸੋ ਫਿਰਿ ਨੰਦ ਕੇ ਧਾਮਿ ਕਿਧੌ ਤਿਨ ਸੋ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਅਤਿ ਕੀਨੀ ॥

chal aae kai so fir nand ke dhaam kidhau tin so binatee at keenee |

ਹਉ ਬਸੁਦੇਵਹਿ ਕੋ ਸੁਤ ਹੋ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤਿਨ ਮਾਨ ਕੈ ਲੀਨੀ ॥

hau basudeveh ko sut ho ih bhaat kahiyo tin maan kai leenee |

Krishna then came to the place of Nand and humbly requested him to tell him whether he was actually the son of Vasudev, to which Nand agreed.

ਜਾਹੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤੁਮ ਧਾਮਨ ਕੋ ਬਤੀਯਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਮੋਹ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਭੀਨੀ ॥

jaahu kahiyo tum dhaaman ko bateeyaa sun moh prajaa brij bheenee |

Then Nand asked all the people present there to go to their homes

ਨੰਦ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਭਈ ਸੁ ਪੁਰੀ ਸਭ ਹੀਨੀ ॥੮੫੭॥

nand kahiyo su kahiyo brij kee bin kaanrah bhee su puree sabh heenee |857|

This was what Nand said, but without Krishna the land of Braja would lose all its glory.857.

ਸੀਸ ਝੁਕਾਇ ਗਯੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਕੋ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਸੋਕ ਭਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

sees jhukaae gayo brij ko at hee man bheetar sok bhayo hai |

Bowing his head, Nand also left for Braja, with extreme sorrow in his mind

ਜਿਉ ਕੋਊ ਤਾਤ ਮਰੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਤ ਹੈ ਪ︀ਯਾਰੋ ਕੋਊ ਮਨੋ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਛਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

jiau koaoo taat marai pachhutaat hai payaaro koaoo mano bhraat chhayo hai |

All of them are in great anguish like the bereavement on the death of the father or brother

ਪੈ ਜਿਮ ਰਾਜ ਬਡੇ ਰਿਪੁਰਾਜ ਕੀ ਪੈਰਨ ਮੈ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਇ ਗਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

pai jim raaj badde ripuraaj kee pairan mai pat khoe gayo hai |

Or like the seizure of the kingdom and honour of a great sovereign by an enemy

ਯੌ ਉਪਜੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਬਸੁਦੇ ਠਗਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਮਨੋ ਧਨ ਲੂਟਿ ਲਯੋ ਹੈ ॥੮੫੮॥

yau upajee upamaa basude tthag sayaam mano dhan loott layo hai |858|

The poet says that it appears to him that a thug like Vasudev has plundered the wealth of Krishna.858.
