Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਜਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਮਨ ਮੀਠ ਖਟਾਨੀ ॥

jan kee dhoor man meetth khattaanee |

The dust of the feet of the humble beings is so sweet to my mind.

ਪੂਰਬਿ ਕਰਮਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

poorab karam likhiaa dhur praanee |1| rahaau |

Perfect karma is the mortal's pre-ordained destiny. ||1||Pause||

ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਮਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਥਿਧਾਈ ॥

ahanbudh man poor thidhaaee |

The mind is overflowing with the greasy dirt of egotistical pride.

ਸਾਧ ਧੂਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਧ ਮੰਜਾਈ ॥੧॥

saadh dhoor kar sudh manjaaee |1|

With the dust of the feet of the Holy, it is scrubbed clean. ||1||

ਅਨਿਕ ਜਲਾ ਜੇ ਧੋਵੈ ਦੇਹੀ ॥

anik jalaa je dhovai dehee |

The body may be washed with loads of water,

ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਸੁਧੁ ਨ ਤੇਹੀ ॥੨॥

mail na utarai sudh na tehee |2|

and yet its filth is not removed, and it does not become clean. ||2||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸਦਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥

satigur bhettio sadaa kripaal |

I have met the True Guru, who is merciful forever.

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਭਉ ਕਾਲ ॥੩॥

har simar simar kaattiaa bhau kaal |3|

Meditating, meditating in remembrance on the Lord, I am rid of the fear of death. ||3||

ਮੁਕਤਿ ਭੁਗਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥

mukat bhugat jugat har naau |

Liberation, pleasures and worldly success are all in the Lord's Name.

ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੪॥੧੦੦॥੧੬੯॥

prem bhagat naanak gun gaau |4|100|169|

With loving devotional worship, O Nanak, sing His Glorious Praises. ||4||100||169||
