Bilaaval, Fifth Mehl:

ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂ ਬੰਧਿ ਕਰਿ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਫੁਨਿ ਸੁਖ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

jin too bandh kar chhoddiaa fun sukh meh paaeaa |

The One who bound you in the womb and then released you, placed you in the world of joy.

ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਚਰਣਾਰਬਿੰਦ ਸੀਤਲ ਹੋਤਾਇਆ ॥੧॥

sadaa simar charanaarabind seetal hotaaeaa |1|

Contemplate His Lotus Feet forever, and you shall be cooled and soothed. ||1||

ਜੀਵਤਿਆ ਅਥਵਾ ਮੁਇਆ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥

jeevatiaa athavaa mueaa kichh kaam na aavai |

In life and in death, this Maya is of no use.

ਜਿਨਿ ਏਹੁ ਰਚਨੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ਕੋਊ ਤਿਸ ਸਿਉ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jin ehu rachan rachaaeaa koaoo tis siau rang laavai |1| rahaau |

He created this creation, but rare are those who enshrine love for Him. ||1||Pause||

ਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਉਸਨ ਸੀਤ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੈ ਘਾਮ ਤੇ ਕਾਢੈ ॥

re praanee usan seet karataa karai ghaam te kaadtai |

O mortal, the Creator Lord made summer and winter; He saves you from the heat.

ਕੀਰੀ ਤੇ ਹਸਤੀ ਕਰੈ ਟੂਟਾ ਲੇ ਗਾਢੈ ॥੨॥

keeree te hasatee karai ttoottaa le gaadtai |2|

From the ant, He makes an elephant; He reunites those who have been separated. ||2||

ਅੰਡਜ ਜੇਰਜ ਸੇਤਜ ਉਤਭੁਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਕਿਰਤਿ ॥

anddaj jeraj setaj utabhujaa prabh kee ih kirat |

Eggs, wombs, sweat and earth - these are God's workshops of creation.

ਕਿਰਤ ਕਮਾਵਨ ਸਰਬ ਫਲ ਰਵੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਤਿ ॥੩॥

kirat kamaavan sarab fal raveeai har nirat |3|

It is fruitful for all to practice contemplation of the Lord. ||3||

ਹਮ ਤੇ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਵਨਾ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਧ ॥

ham te kachhoo na hovanaa saran prabh saadh |

I cannot do anything; O God, I seek the Sanctuary of the Holy.

ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ ਕੂਪ ਅੰਧ ਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਕਾਢ ॥੪॥੩੦॥੬੦॥

moh magan koop andh te naanak gur kaadt |4|30|60|

Guru Nanak pulled me up, out of the deep, dark pit, the intoxication of attachment. ||4||30||60||
