ਸੰਤ ਭਗਤ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਹਹਿ ਜਗ ਤਾਰਨ ਆਏ ।
sant bhagat gurasikh heh jag taaran aae |
The saints and devotees, who are the Sikhs of Guru (Gobind Singh), have come for the deliverance of the world.
ਸੇ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਜਗ ਮੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਜਪਾਏ ।
se praupakaaree jag mo gur mantr japaae |
And these generous ones are causing the world meditate upon the Guru's incantation,
ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਸਾਧ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਮਾਏ ।
jap tap sanjam saadh kar har bhagat kamaae |
The Sewak, the devoted adherent, who meditates on the Naam (of the Creator) is sanctified.
ਤਹਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ।
teh sevak so paravaan hai har naam drirraae |
With deliberation, penance and austerity, the devotee achieves godliness,
ਕਾਮ ਕਰੋਧ ਫੁਨ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਚੁਕਾਏ ।
kaam karodh fun lobh moh ahankaar chukaae |
And abandons sensuality, wrath, greed arrogance and infatuation.
ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਘਟਿ ਸੇਧ ਕਰਿ ਪਵਣਾ ਠਹਿਰਾਏ ।
jog jugat ghatt sedh kar pavanaa tthahiraae |
He reforms with capable strategy, and domineers the mind wavering wind,
ਤਬ ਖਟ ਚਕਰਾ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਘੁਰੇ ਗਗਨਾ ਘਰਿ ਛਾਏ ।
tab khatt chakaraa sahije ghure gaganaa ghar chhaae |
Six spheres (of bodily self-control) overpowered, he eventually, overwhelms the divine heights.
ਨਿਜ ਸੁੰਨ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਲਗਾਇ ਕੈ ਅਨਹਦ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ।
nij sun samaadh lagaae kai anahad liv laae |
Then he proceeds, with honour, towards the heavenly abode with a virtuous appearance.
ਤਬ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਪਤਿ ਸਿਉਂ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਏ ।
tab daragah mukh ujale pat siaun ghar jaae |
One who narrates the glory of (Guru) Nanak, is the bravest of all.
ਕਲੀ ਕਾਲ ਮਰਦਾਨ ਮਰਦ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ।
kalee kaal maradaan marad naanak gun gaae |
And the one who recounts this Epic of Bhagauti, attains the Eternal status.
ਯਹ ਵਾਰ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਜੋ ਪੜ੍ਹੈ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦ ਪਾਏ ।
yeh vaar bhgautee jo parrhai amaraa pad paae |
Neither he faces the distress nor repentance; rather he prevails in bliss.
ਤਿਹ ਦੂਖ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਨ ਕਛੁ ਲਗੈ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਰਤਾਏ ।
tih dookh santaap na kachh lagai aanand varataae |
Whatever he desires, he achieves and, through his heart, invokes the invisible.
ਫਿਰ ਜੋ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਲਹੈ ਘਟਿ ਅਲਖ ਲਖਾਏ ।
fir jo chitavai soee lahai ghatt alakh lakhaae |
For that, he, day and night, recounts this Epic from his mouth,
ਤਬ ਨਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਸੋਂ ਮੁਖ ਪਾਠ ਸੁਨਾਏ ।
tab nis din is vaar son mukh paatth sunaae |
To earn freedom from the urge for material things, attains salvation and flies to rapturous heights.
ਸੋ ਲਹੈ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਦ ਚੜ੍ਹਿ ਗਗਨ ਸਮਾਏ ।
so lahai padaarath mukat pad charrh gagan samaae |
There remains no challenge of Yamas,
ਤਬ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪੂਛੇ ਜਮ ਧਰਮ ਸਭ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟਾਏ ।
tab kachhoo na poochhe jam dharam sabh paap mittaae |
and Righteousness eliminates all the transgressions.
ਤਬ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਮ ਡੰਡ ਦੁਖ ਨਹਿਂ ਹੋਇ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ।
tab lagai na tis jam ddandd dukh nahin hoe duhelaa |
No punishment of the Yamas remains effective, and the adversities become not troublesome.
