Maajh, Fifth Mehl:

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਲੀਆ ॥

amrit naam sadaa niramaleea |

The Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, is eternally pure.

ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਡਾਰਨ ਹਰੀਆ ॥

sukhadaaee dookh biddaaran hareea |

The Lord is the Giver of Peace and the Dispeller of sorrow.

ਅਵਰਿ ਸਾਦ ਚਖਿ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੇਖੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਮੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

avar saad chakh sagale dekhe man har ras sabh te meetthaa jeeo |1|

I have seen and tasted all other flavors, but to my mind, the Subtle Essence of the Lord is the sweetest of all. ||1||

ਜੋ ਜੋ ਪੀਵੈ ਸੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਵੈ ॥

jo jo peevai so tripataavai |

Whoever drinks this in, is satisfied.

ਅਮਰੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

amar hovai jo naam ras paavai |

Whoever obtains the Sublime Essence of the Naam becomes immortal.

ਨਾਮ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਨਿ ਵੂਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥

naam nidhaan tiseh paraapat jis sabad guroo man vootthaa jeeo |2|

The Treasure of the Naam is obtained by one whose mind is filled with the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||2||

ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਨਾ ॥

jin har ras paaeaa so tripat aghaanaa |

One who obtains the Sublime Essence of the Lord is satisfied and fulfilled.

ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਨਾਹਿ ਡੁਲਾਨਾ ॥

jin har saad paaeaa so naeh ddulaanaa |

One who obtains this Flavor of the Lord does not waver.

ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

tiseh paraapat har har naamaa jis masatak bhaageetthaa jeeo |3|

One who has this destiny written on his forehead obtains the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||

ਹਰਿ ਇਕਸੁ ਹਥਿ ਆਇਆ ਵਰਸਾਣੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ॥

har ikas hath aaeaa varasaane bahutere |

The Lord has come into the hands of the One, the Guru, who has blessed so many with good fortune.

ਤਿਸੁ ਲਗਿ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਭਏ ਘਣੇਰੇ ॥

tis lag mukat bhe ghanere |

Attached to Him, a great many have been liberated.

ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਰਲੀ ਡੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੨੨॥

naam nidhaanaa guramukh paaeeai kahu naanak viralee ddeetthaa jeeo |4|15|22|

The Gurmukh obtains the Treasure of the Naam; says Nanak, those who see the Lord are very rare. ||4||15||22||
