ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੫ ॥

Salok, Fifth Mehl:

ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਰਾਗ ਸੁਰੰਗੜੇ ਆਲਾਪਤ ਸਭ ਤਿਖ ਜਾਇ ॥

dhan su raag surangarre aalaapat sabh tikh jaae |

Blessed are those beautiful Ragas which, when chanted, quench all thirst.

ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਜੰਤ ਸੁਹਾਵੜੇ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਪਦੇ ਨਾਉ ॥

dhan su jant suhaavarre jo guramukh japade naau |

Blessed are those beautiful people who, as Gurmukh, chant the Name of the Lord.

ਜਿਨੀ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਇਕੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥

jinee ik man ik araadhiaa tin sad balihaarai jaau |

I am a sacrifice to those who single-mindedly worship and adore the One Lord.

ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਧੂੜਿ ਹਮ ਬਾਛਦੇ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥

tin kee dhoorr ham baachhade karamee palai paae |

I yearn for the dust of their feet; by His Grace, it is obtained.

ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਗੋਵਿਦ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥

jo rate rang govid kai hau tin balihaarai jaau |

I am a sacrifice to those who are imbued with love for the Lord of the Universe.

ਆਖਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਰਾਇ ॥

aakhaa birathaa jeea kee har sajan melahu raae |

I tell them the state of my soul, and pray that I may be united with the Sovereign Lord King, my Friend.

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਮੇਲਾਇਆ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥

gur poorai melaaeaa janam maran dukh jaae |

The Perfect Guru has united me with Him, and the pains of birth and death have departed.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਗਮ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਨਤ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥

jan naanak paaeaa agam roop anat na kaahoo jaae |1|

Servant Nanak has found the inaccessible, infinitely beautiful Lord, and he will not go anywhere else. ||1||
