ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ਚਉਥਾ ਚਉਪਦੇ ॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik oankaar satigur prasaad |

ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਸਾਸਤ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਪੜਿਆ ॥
panddit saasat simrit parriaa |
The Pandit - the religious scholar - recites the Shaastras and the Simritees;
ਜੋਗੀ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਕਰਿਆ ॥
jogee gorakh gorakh kariaa |
the Yogi cries out, "Gorakh, Gorakh".
ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਪੜਿਆ ॥੧॥
mai moorakh har har jap parriaa |1|
But I am just a fool - I just chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||
ਨਾ ਜਾਨਾ ਕਿਆ ਗਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥
naa jaanaa kiaa gat raam hamaaree |
I do not know what my condition shall be, Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਰੁ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤੂ ਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har bhaj man mere tar bhaujal too taaree |1| rahaau |
O my mind, vibrate and meditate on the Name of the Lord. You shall cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||Pause||
ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਬਿਭੂਤ ਲਾਇ ਦੇਹ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥
saniaasee bibhoot laae deh savaaree |
The Sannyaasee smears his body with ashes;
ਪਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਅ ਤਿਆਗੁ ਕਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਾਰੀ ॥
par tria tiaag karee brahamachaaree |
renouncing other men's women, he practices celibacy.
ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਰਿ ਆਸ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
mai moorakh har aas tumaaree |2|
I am just a fool, Lord; I place my hopes in You! ||2||
ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇ ਸੂਰਤਣੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
khatree karam kare sooratan paavai |
The Kh'shaatriya acts bravely, and is recognized as a warrior.
ਸੂਦੁ ਵੈਸੁ ਪਰ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
sood vais par kirat kamaavai |
The Shoodra and the Vaisha work and slave for others;
ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਛਡਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
mai moorakh har naam chhaddaavai |3|
I am just a fool - I am saved by the Lord's Name. ||3||
ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
sabh teree srisatt toon aap rahiaa samaaee |
The entire Universe is Yours; You Yourself permeate and pervade it.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
guramukh naanak de vaddiaaee |
O Nanak, the Gurmukhs are blessed with glorious greatness.
ਮੈ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਟੇਕ ਟਿਕਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੩੯॥
mai andhule har ttek ttikaaee |4|1|39|
I am blind - I have taken the Lord as my Support. ||4||1||39||
