Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਬਿਖੈ ਰਾਜ ਤੇ ਅੰਧੁਲਾ ਭਾਰੀ ॥

bikhai raaj te andhulaa bhaaree |

The blind beggar is better off than the vicious king.

ਦੁਖਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਚਿਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥

dukh laagai raam naam chitaaree |1|

Overcome by pain, the blind man invokes the Lord's Name. ||1||

ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਤੁਹੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥

tere daas kau tuhee vaddiaaee |

You are the glorious greatness of Your slave.

ਮਾਇਆ ਮਗਨੁ ਨਰਕਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

maaeaa magan narak lai jaaee |1| rahaau |

The intoxication of Maya leads the others to hell. ||1||Pause||

ਰੋਗ ਗਿਰਸਤ ਚਿਤਾਰੇ ਨਾਉ ॥

rog girasat chitaare naau |

Gripped by disease, they invoke the Name.

ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਤੇ ਕਾ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਉ ॥੨॥

bikh maate kaa tthaur na tthaau |2|

But those who are intoxicated with vice shall find no home, no place of rest. ||2||

ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥

charan kamal siau laagee preet |

One who is in love with the Lord's Lotus Feet,

ਆਨ ਸੁਖਾ ਨਹੀ ਆਵਹਿ ਚੀਤਿ ॥੩॥

aan sukhaa nahee aaveh cheet |3|

does not think of any other comforts. ||3||

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥

sadaa sadaa simrau prabh suaamee |

Forever and ever, meditate on God, your Lord and Master.

ਮਿਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੪॥੮੨॥੧੫੧॥

mil naanak har antarajaamee |4|82|151|

O Nanak, meet with the Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ||4||82||151||
