ਅਕੜਾ ਛੰਦ ॥

AKRAA STANZA

ਮੁਨਿ ਬਾਲ ਛਾਡਹੁ ਗਰਬ ॥

mun baal chhaaddahu garab |

ਮਿਲਿ ਆਨ ਮੋਹੂ ਸਰਬ ॥

mil aan mohoo sarab |

“O boys of the sages! forsake your pride, come and meet me

ਲੈ ਜਾਹਿ ਰਾਘਵ ਤੀਰ ॥

lai jaeh raaghav teer |

ਤੁਹਿ ਨੈਕ ਦੈ ਕੈ ਚੀਰ ॥੭੭੭॥

tuhi naik dai kai cheer |777|

“I shall dress you and take you to (Raghava) Ram.”777.

ਸੁਨਤੇ ਭਰੇ ਸਿਸ ਮਾਨ ॥

sunate bhare sis maan |

ਕਰ ਕੋਪ ਤਾਨ ਕਮਾਨ ॥

kar kop taan kamaan |

Hearing these words the boys were filled with pride and being enraged they pulled their bows

ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ਸਾਇਕ ਛੋਰਿ ॥

bahu bhaat saaeik chhor |

ਜਨ ਅਭ੍ਰ ਸਾਵਣ ਓਰ ॥੭੭੮॥

jan abhr saavan or |778|

They discharged many arrows like the clouds of the month of Sawan.778.

ਲਾਗੇ ਸੁ ਸਾਇਕ ਅੰਗ ॥

laage su saaeik ang |

ਗਿਰਗੇ ਸੁ ਬਾਹ ਉਤੰਗ ॥

girage su baah utang |

Those, whom those arrows struck, fell down and overturned

ਕਹੂੰ ਅੰਗ ਭੰਗ ਸੁਬਾਹ ॥

kahoon ang bhang subaah |

ਕਹੂੰ ਚਉਰ ਚੀਰ ਸਨਾਹ ॥੭੭੯॥

kahoon chaur cheer sanaah |779|

Somewhere those arrows chopped the limbs and somewhere they penetrated through the fly-whisk and armour.779.

ਕਹੂੰ ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਚਾਰ ਕਮਾਨ ॥

kahoon chitr chaar kamaan |

ਕਹੂੰ ਅੰਗ ਜੋਧਨ ਬਾਨ ॥

kahoon ang jodhan baan |

Somewhere they created portraits on coming out of the beautiful bows and somewhere they pierced the limbs of the warriors

ਕਹੂੰ ਅੰਗ ਘਾਇ ਭਭਕ ॥

kahoon ang ghaae bhabhak |

ਕਹੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੋਣ ਸਰਤ ਛਲਕ ॥੭੮੦॥

kahoon sron sarat chhalak |780|

Somewhere the wound of the limbs burst open and somewhere the stream of blood overflowed.780.

ਕਹੂੰ ਭੂਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਭਕੰਤ ॥

kahoon bhoot pret bhakant |

ਸੁ ਕਹੂੰ ਕਮਧ ਉਠੰਤ ॥

su kahoon kamadh utthant |

Somewhere the ghosts and fiends shouted and somewhere the headless trunks began to rise in the battlefield

ਕਹੂੰ ਨਾਚ ਬੀਰ ਬੈਤਾਲ ॥

kahoon naach beer baitaal |

ਸੋ ਬਮਤ ਡਾਕਣਿ ਜੁਆਲ ॥੭੮੧॥

so bamat ddaakan juaal |781|

Somewhere the brave Baitals danced and somewhere the Vampires raised flames of fire.781.

ਰਣ ਘਾਇ ਘਾਏ ਵੀਰ ॥

ran ghaae ghaae veer |

ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰੋਣ ਭੀਗੇ ਚੀਰ ॥

sabh sron bheege cheer |

The garments of warriors were saturated with blood, on being wounded in the battlefield

ਇਕ ਬੀਰ ਭਾਜਿ ਚਲੰਤ ॥

eik beer bhaaj chalant |

ਇਕ ਆਨ ਜੁਧ ਜੁਟੰਤ ॥੭੮੨॥

eik aan judh juttant |782|

On one side the warriors are running away and on the other side they are coming and fighting in the war.782.

ਇਕ ਐਂਚ ਐਂਚ ਕਮਾਨ ॥

eik ainch ainch kamaan |

ਤਕ ਵੀਰ ਮਾਰਤ ਬਾਨ ॥

tak veer maarat baan |

On one side, the warriors are stretching their bows and discharging arrows

ਇਕ ਭਾਜ ਭਾਜ ਮਰੰਤ ॥

eik bhaaj bhaaj marant |

ਨਹੀ ਸੁਰਗ ਤਉਨ ਬਸੰਤ ॥੭੮੩॥

nahee surag taun basant |783|

On the other side they are running away and brathing their last, but not getting a place in the heaven.783.

ਗਜ ਰਾਜ ਬਾਜ ਅਨੇਕ ॥

gaj raaj baaj anek |

ਜੁਝੇ ਨ ਬਾਚਾ ਏਕ ॥

jujhe na baachaa ek |

Many elephants and horses died and not even one was saved

ਤਬ ਆਨ ਲੰਕਾ ਨਾਥ ॥

tab aan lankaa naath |

ਜੁਝਯੋ ਸਿਸਨ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ॥੭੮੪॥

jujhayo sisan ke saath |784|

Then Vibhishan, the Lord of Lanka, fought with the boys.784.
