ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

basant mahalaa 5 |

Basant, Fifth Mehl:

ਮਿਲਿ ਪਾਣੀ ਜਿਉ ਹਰੇ ਬੂਟ ॥

mil paanee jiau hare boott |

As the plant turns green upon receiving water,

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਤਿਉ ਹਉਮੈ ਛੂਟ ॥

saadhasangat tiau haumai chhoott |

just so, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, egotism is eradicated.

ਜੈਸੀ ਦਾਸੇ ਧੀਰ ਮੀਰ ॥

jaisee daase dheer meer |

Just as the servant is encouraged by his ruler,

ਤੈਸੇ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਗੁਰਹ ਪੀਰ ॥੧॥

taise udhaaran gurah peer |1|

we are saved by the Guru. ||1||

ਤੁਮ ਦਾਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਨਹਾਰ ॥

tum daate prabh denahaar |

You are the Great Giver, O Generous Lord God.

ਨਿਮਖ ਨਿਮਖ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

nimakh nimakh tis namasakaar |1| rahaau |

Each and every instant, I humbly bow to You. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ॥

jiseh paraapat saadhasang |

Whoever enters the Saadh Sangat

ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਰੰਗੁ ॥

tis jan laagaa paarabraham rang |

that humble being is imbued with the Love of the Supreme Lord God.

ਤੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੇ ਭਏ ਮੁਕਤਿ ॥

te bandhan te bhe mukat |

He is liberated from bondage.

ਭਗਤ ਅਰਾਧਹਿ ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ॥੨॥

bhagat araadheh jog jugat |2|

His devotees worship Him in adoration; they are united in His Union. ||2||

ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਤੋਖੇ ਦਰਸੁ ਪੇਖਿ ॥

netr santokhe daras pekh |

My eyes are content, gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan.

ਰਸਨਾ ਗਾਏ ਗੁਣ ਅਨੇਕ ॥

rasanaa gaae gun anek |

My tongue sings the Infinite Praises of God.

ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੂਝੀ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

trisanaa boojhee gur prasaad |

My thirst is quenched, by Guru's Grace.

ਮਨੁ ਆਘਾਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਹਿ ਸੁਆਦਿ ॥੩॥

man aaghaanaa har raseh suaad |3|

My mind is satisfied, with the sublime taste of the Lord's subtle essence. ||3||

ਸੇਵਕੁ ਲਾਗੋ ਚਰਣ ਸੇਵ ॥

sevak laago charan sev |

Your servant is committed to the service of Your Feet,

ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਦੇਵ ॥

aad purakh aparanpar dev |

O Primal Infinite Divine Being.

ਸਗਲ ਉਧਾਰਣ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਮੁ ॥

sagal udhaaran tero naam |

Your Name is the Saving Grace of all.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਓ ਇਹੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੬॥

naanak paaeo ihu nidhaan |4|6|

Nanak has received this teasure. ||4||6||
