ਜਾਣੁ ਮਜੀਠੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਆਪੁ ਪੀਹਾਇਆ ।

jaan majeetthai rang aap peehaaeaa |

Madder (Rubia munjista) knowing very well gets itself grinded.

ਕਦੇ ਨ ਛਡੈ ਸੰਗੁ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਇਆ ।

kade na chhaddai sang banat banaaeaa |

ਕਟਿ ਕਮਾਦੁ ਨਿਸੰਗੁ ਆਪੁ ਪੀੜਾਇਆ ।
