Gauree, Ninth Mehl:

ਕੋਊ ਮਾਈ ਭੂਲਿਓ ਮਨੁ ਸਮਝਾਵੈ ॥

koaoo maaee bhoolio man samajhaavai |

O mother, if only someone would instruct my wayward mind.

ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਾਧ ਮਗ ਸੁਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

bed puraan saadh mag sun kar nimakh na har gun gaavai |1| rahaau |

This mind listens to the Vedas, the Puraanas, and the ways of the Holy Saints, but it does not sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, for even an instant. ||1||Pause||

ਦੁਰਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਪਾਇ ਮਾਨਸ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਿਰਾਵੈ ॥

duralabh deh paae maanas kee birathaa janam siraavai |

Having obtained this human body, so very difficult to obtain, it is now being uselessly wasted.

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਮਹਾ ਸੰਕਟ ਬਨ ਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਰੁਚ ਉਪਜਾਵੈ ॥੧॥

maaeaa moh mahaa sankatt ban taa siau ruch upajaavai |1|

Emotional attachment to Maya is such a treacherous wilderness, and yet, people are in love with it. ||1||

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਨੇਹੁ ਨ ਲਾਵੈ ॥

antar baahar sadaa sang prabh taa siau nehu na laavai |

Inwardly and outwardly, God is always with them, and yet, they do not enshrine Love for Him.

ਨਾਨਕ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਤੁਮ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਜਿਹ ਘਟਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੨॥੬॥

naanak mukat taeh tum maanahu jih ghatt raam samaavai |2|6|

O Nanak, know that those whose hearts are filled with the Lord are liberated. ||2||6||
